Default Is Shakib at his best @ WC2015

Watching Shakib all the WC games including Practice Matches, I have a feeling that he is not in his prime at this moment. Especially if you see his bowling, this is not as effective as before- of course he is economical but not taking wickets. Definitely, condition is one of the reasons but on the other hand Ashwin, Dane V. are doing well. As far his batting is concern, he is doing ok but not great at his standard.fficeffice" />
He is a champion cricketer and he will response strongly when it matters. His contribution will be badly needed in QF.

What has happened is teams are playing him out. That's why all his wickets have come towards the slog overs where teams try to take him on. In these conditions, spinners will not get wicket unless batters are going after them. Most of Ashwin and Vettori's wickets are catches from forceful shot (except for the UAE game).

Shakib hasnt got accustomed to the pitch for bowling.

He should not have been moved up the order for his batting.

We have come a long way, without shakib getting wickets or runs we won vs England but you cant keep him out of the action that catch and run out were simply world class. Class act.

^Plus he bowled 10 overs for 41 runs. Best economy rate (4.1) among both teams.

In a high pressure situation his overs are like an oasis in the desert. Mashrafi could control the game becuase Shak kept things tight from one end. As Razab said opposition knows how dangerous he is and hence playing him out

I think Shakib himself would agree he isnt performing at his optimum.

Two things need to happen for him to be back at his best.

1) He should bat after Mushfiq, and only come to the scene around 30 over mark, or maybe slightly earlier. The guy is best when the platform has been set and he can play his natural game.

2) Currently he is expected to be the 4-4.5 economy bowler who would keep things tight at one end, and prevent runs. If this job can be done by Taijul or Sunny, then Shakib can attack. This is exactly what the pair of Ashwin and Jadeja are doing.

Just because he is not getting the MOMs doesn't mean he is not performing upto his level. I would actually say this is his best WC in terms of his contribution. He has 2 half centuries and a 46 run innings in 4 matches so batting wise he is doing fine. I specially loved how he batted against Scotland. Played the sheet anchor role and made sure we get to that huge target. I think in batting his role is to come near the power play overs and utilize it so he is allowed to take chances. I liked his batting so far. For bowling remember Shakib is kind of bowler who always requires assistance from the wicket because remember his strength is arm ball so if he can't get the turn the surprise factor is not there. But he is doing his job. He is keeping it tight in the mid overs and power plays . That role is very important as our pacers can get hit easily. So though none of his bowling figures or runs looks very attractive but he has played a very important role in each of our win.

Just saw on the news that along with Mashrafe, Rubel and Taskin, Shakib too had been granted rest from training today. Has he got a niggle that could get aggravated? If not then what has he done to be excused from training?

I think his wife loves his bowling more than his batting. Based on the look on her face when they played Scotland. But seriously, I think that this is what Shakib would have ideally wanted. He's just laying back and allowing other guys to put their hands up and say "I am ready to perform!!!".

He scored quick fire 50 to seal the game against Scots. didnt you see?

Shakib, is always in the game, as he has variety of talents that he can contribute in. If he didnt contribute with the bat, he will with the ball, etc

Against England, his economical bowling, and excellent fielding played KEY part too.

The runout (Jordan) and the catch (Morgan).
