I wonder why Atahar Ali wasn't in the commentary team?

Excuse me but there was mention of "Anandabazar" , the guys who claimed we lost to NZ intentionally just to face the World champions on QFs.

Lets just agree, India have been good throughout the competition thats why their players were highly praised. India took 77 wickets in 8 matches, add to that batting was good too having crossed 300 3 times.

And I am not surprised by Athar's absence. From a neutral perspective he is a very ordinary commentator.

The good thing about Athar's is his knowledge of Bangladesh Cricket but he isn't that exciting to non-bangalis when he is commentating. Just stating facts. I would love to see Athar and his insights on the team but it was not to be and I am not entirely surprised.

Sorry!

What does the news about BCCI interferring in commentators selection have to do with India's performance?

Did not understand this. Why? I thought Indian board is against DRS system?

This is nothing new. Ian Chappel had refused to work for TV channels before as well because he couldn't agree with the conditions. The conditions last time were -can't talk about India's choice for not adopting DRS, can't talk about team selection and one other I can't remember. If you do a google search you can find related news articles.

BCCI is utter rubbish forcing rules like this. Maybe someday there will be agreement that other teams have to sign '' we agree to the terms that we are defeated without a ball being bowled " I like both Chappell and Holding for doing this. Great as a player and great as a human being.

He was doing radio commentary for ABC Grandstand. He was boring as hell. It sounded like he was just reading out cricinfo's ball by ball commentary without the feedbacks. His commentary was strictly limited to batting, bowling and fielding. The commentators were joking around and having a laugh about various things. He wouldn't buzz at all. At times they threw funny questions at him as well. But the gentleman wouldn't buzz. If it was Shamim he would at least participate. Don't this guy hear other people's commentary? Or does he think he is too big for light talking? I would be too embarrassed if he was commenting on TV.
