Bangladesh T20 Squad 2016
Based on the international games and BPL 2015, Here is my suggestion for our T20 squad for India 2016...
Tamim
Kayes
Riyad (vc)
Mushy (wc)
Shakib
Shabbir
Mash (c)
Mosharraf
Al Amin
Mustafiz
Abu Haider
Extras: Jahurul, Arafat, Nasir
I don't see a slot for both Soumya and Nasir and definitely no slot for Anamul and Liton. Taskin and Rubel doesnt even come close to the rest of the seamers. Al Amin, Abu Haider are excellent wicket taking options and will definitely give Mash some relief. Jahurul played well enough to earn a call.
I was really looking upto Soumya, Nasir, Liton, Taskin, Mosaddek to make a case for the national XI but all of them failed.

mosharraf/arafat sunny
mustafiz

^But I believe Soumya will be selected at least at the squad if not playing 11.
And I don't blame the selectors either. if domestic(despite a franchise league) stats was that important then Soumya wouldn't had debuted for National team at the first place.
If I remember I correctly he had list A ave of 27 and strike rate below 80 with no 100 (!)
Hack..even considering 2014/15 Premiere League he wasn't the top scorer either. And he got call from nowhere middle of the league when he was not even top 5 run scorer by then only for Haturu. As he wanted a 'Allrounder' (It was all set up because Hature knew with Batting stats Soumya could never earn a call). Then we know how cleverly coach played Soumya before Mominul at the WC matches and eventually replacing injured Anamul. May be that's why he wasn't that hyped like LitTon.
Some Players are Different. Look at Sabbir. He since 2009/10 have been around. He always performs in main matches like SemiFinal, QFinal etc at leagues. But 'sleeps' at all other matches. (I have noticed it in last 2/3 Premiere Leagues). But when he performs he come back winning. Alas Stats won't show that. And see Even in BPL Same happened with Sabbir. And obviously after his latest performances you have selected him in your squad which I am not against.
Just my Opinion.

Heck, you can even add Jaharul, Kapali and Nafees who have out-performed our young guns (ex. Liton, Soumya, Nasir) throughout the tournament

My Squad, based on BPL :
Tamim
Soumya (I still believe he will come good in Intl.matches)
Imrul (Deserves a call)
Shabbir (promote him up)
Riyad
Mushy
Shakib (Let him play cameo innings, though I doubt that will happen)
Mashrafe
Al Amin
Mustafizur
Sunny/Abu Haider (depending on pitch)
Bench - Abu Haider/Sunny, Jahurul, Nasir, Rubel
My only concern is having 3 lefties up the order. But idk if Shabbir at 3 would be a good idea and Imrul at 4. In that case, the line-up gets messed up.

Soumya and Sabbir both were disappointing for most part of BPL-3. But both should be persisted with, knowing how destructive they can be on their days.
Tamim
Soumya
Kayes
Mushfiq
Shakib
Riyad
Sabbir
Mash
Sunny/AA (depending on pitch/opposition)
Abu
Mustafiz
Bench: Sunny/AA, Jahurul, Nasir, Shahid
Nasir is more like poor men's Riyad nowadays. Think he will survive for lack of a genuine allrounder.
No Rubel or Taskin please. Abul and Shafiul are actually better choice than those two in this version.

Before the World T20, there is the Asia Cup t20. A lot can happen between now and then in terms of player's confidence and form therefore I will form the official team later on. But for the Asia Cup, here is my squad.
Tamim
Imrul
Sabbir
Shakib
Riyad
Mushy
Mash
Sunny
Al-Amin
Rony
Mustafiz
Subs: Soumya, Jahurul, Shahid, Mosharraf
Nasir has done nothing worth good enough to earn a spot in my opinion. Looks horribly out of form. You can say Sabbir was too but he can be very destructive on his day while Nasir seems to be just a shadow of his oldself now. Anamul and Liton should be kept far far away from the squad. Their negative batting will ruin whatever momentum we have every game. Shuvagata Hom and Alok Kapali performed well this tournament but I don't think they are better than the ones I listed above.

My Squad for the Asia Cup T20:-
Starting XI for the first match
Openers
Tamim Iqbal: Had a great BPL
Soumya Sarkar: Despite poor form he was a revolution in 2015 and Since this run of poor form is in domestic not international field he gets the node over Imrul as first choice opener
One Down
Shakib AL Hasan :- quiet BPL with the bat but was good with the ball, His Int T20 records with the bat are good at one down. so I am not willing to change something thats not broken
Number 4
Mushfiqur Rahim :- Wk, Can hit at will like Shakib when in touch
Number 5
Mahmudullah Riyad(VC) :- Rescue Riyad it is, seems to have finally removed the Sissy Riyad tag in 2015. looking like the perfect vice captain for our captain
Number 6
Sabbir Rahman :- had a awful BPL but saved by last couple of matches, excellent fielder to have in the team.
Number 7
Nasir Hossain :- I dont agree with this selection but nobody stepped up in the BPL to take this place. Nasir survives on the base of that. also handy bowling option and excellent fielder, Hoping we we'll again see the 2013 nasir
Bowlers
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza(C) :- Captain..Leader..Heart of the team
Al Amin Hossain :- To be honest he had a hit or miss BPL, Abu haidar bowled much better then him but I am willing to keep him in the starting XI for first couple of matches for his international experience, If he fails Haidar will take this place
Arafat Sunny:- Decent BPL as always, but not better then Mossaraf who I think is a far more thinking bowler then Sunny. But same as Al amin case Sunny gets the node over Mossaraf based on Int expo.
Mustafizur Rahman:- The young bowling sensation, I still cant believe he is Bangladeshi
Rest of the Team
Mossaraf Hossain :- Great BPL as always, seriously needs a call up. Back up spinner
Imrul Kayes :- Great BPL, still have problem finding singles but now seems to can make up for that with boundaries. Luckiest Cricketer Alive. Back up opener
Abu Haidar :- Find of BPL, Back up pacer
Jahurul Islam :- Nobody form the domestic honestly steped up in the batting department. Jahurul came close and should be chosen for the 15 man squad as back up WK for mushy
Thats my 15 man squad

^ Sabbir at no.6 is a big worry! By the time he sets himself! We would have lost a over or two without any run.

yes that can happen but Sabbir is not like that always, he has shown he can hit from ball 1

Majority of the time I have seen him bat, he always takes time. On odd and rare occasion 1 in every 5/6 match he goes from ball 1. He is a no.3 player. If it clicks he can go full on/ if it doesn't he can recover. Lower down the order it's hard to recover after playing 1-2 overs of dot balls.

I understand why majority of u have Soumya. Talents like him need to be persisted with. The reason I was hesitant on selecting him was because of his approach in this format which worries me. He never looked comfortable and he was always in two minds for most of his innings. I hope Haturi da, Mash and Tamim work it out with him. Since Imrul is a good option for the opening role, why not consider Soumya for the finishers role? He can clear the ropes well and isnt someone who takes time to get going. Thats what is needed for a no.6 or 7.

Is this the same Imrul we saw before... Wow. Briiliant tournament.
Rony my name twin... Gonna give mustafizur a run for his money. There was a time when we had no good pacer, all of a sudden we have too many. Almost took 3 wickets last night.
Surprised to see no one picked Nafis. I would pick him in place of Soumya.

Not a bad idea, replace Nasir with him and we can hope for some late boundaries.

Abu Hider is the biggest surprise in BPL. Al-Amin increased his value a lot. Shohid also held his own. Rest of the young fast bowlers pretty much did no justice to their hype.
And yes Imrul was a surprise star batting. Nasir and Sabbir was kind of disappointment with only few flashes of success. Rahim, Sakib and SS was a flop with the bat. Riyad and Jahirul increased his value, so did Alok, SN and Hom to a lesser extent. Litton was a total flop. Tamim was ok with more success than failure.
