"I think it is a very big turning point in Bangladesh cricket. We recently made some history but it is mostly beating our own records. The significance here is the biggest opening partnership in the second innings.

"We have really made a mark in the international stage that we have come of age. The last two days have proved that we are a very competitive side," he said.

Hathurusingha added that the on-field performance was also a result of the Bangladesh players' clarity of communication with themselves and the coaching staff. He had talked during and after the World Cup about how he was willing to give the batsmen more freedom.

"You need to have clarity in whatever you say to the players. They are talented enough to take their own decisions," Hathurusingha said. "My job is to be clear and give them freedom to make decisions in the middle. As long as they do that, it makes me happy. What you see in the middle is the clarity of what we are talking about in the dressing room," .

He also pointed out the crucial moments that Bangladesh overcame in the Test, particularly since the fourth morning, to ultimately find the desired result. "I don't think the wicket helped us draw the game. The batters' skills helped us, so hats off to them. Even Taijul took six wickets so we didn't leave anything in Pakistan's hand to make a declaration. So little things like that helped us to draw the game."

The next test will answer whether it's really a turning point or not.

Yes that won't end in next match too, for many; it's always the next match & next series & next year since one year isn't a good sample size, may be multiple year .. Proof needs to be solid...

No prob, I agree with the coach, it's truly a turning point for the team. Having followed the team from the start point of our cricket, all I can say is the signs of a new era, are pretty robust this time... We saw a few false dawns, so it's hard for many to trust so soon. .. It's like that "বাঘ আসলো" গল্পের মত। The day Tiger Actually Came, none believed

We had a quite a few of these promising signs...gotta win a test, and then definitely say, YES, THIS IS IT, and till then, ghurar point, murar point can all look promising, but promises can easily be broken...

Some times even in flatter pitches we just surrendered in similar situations.

Opponents knew that BD batsman will come to bat... Play a few shots and then will throw wickets.... 1 or 2 may get a decent partnership... 1 or 2 Will play a decent innings but they won't survive until the 2nd new ball

Yes the pitch helped, but still we showed enough grit and determination to stay on the wicket and not throw it away

That the corner we turned

Now can we please prepare a pitch that gives either side a shot at actually winning the Test match and not one that becomes progressively better to bat on

Haturi da did nothing special...... he did what every other coach should have done during their stints with Bangladesh.
1. Bring in discipline
2. Get rid of the pushovers
3. Give players the freedom
4. Assign roles according to their abilities

From day 1, i knew this guy know is good enough for this job and right now he is doing an incredible job.
