Default What do we need to do to be good in T20s?

There are many reasons why we have never been successful in T20s

1) Malnourishment
2) Lack of T20 cricket in our domestic setup
3) Lack of hard work(Our batsman haven't tried to master the art of slogging)
4) Poor selection
5) Lack of proper coaching staff.

I say BCB grow balls and send our players to play in the PSL where they will be able to gain much needed experience. And haturi should definitely sit with the boys. Either way, the batsman need to master their ability to hit the ball, and we need to get the fielding right. We don't have the luxury of fielding a side full of lengra players or those with butter fingers.

And where are the idiots who saw this series as "Experiment" series. We barely win T20s and here we are trying to "experiment". What experiment? Picking players who are not fit for playing T20Is

Can't blame 'experimentation' at all for the batting today. Tamim, Soumya, Shabbir and Shakib were always going to be permanent members in the team. Could have won this game if either one of those morons scored some runs, but clearly they couldn't learn an iota from even Mutumbami, forget Hamilton and Waller.

I dont see Soumya as a permanent player in our T20 team.
Since BPL he has been poor throughout.
Plays a few cute looking shots and gets out.
We need to think about other options, Imrul and Jahurul did well in BPL, should be given some opportunities.

One issue regardless of what type of cricket one plays is fielding. The fielding in this series has been sub standard.

Another aspect is cricket sense. We lack this is tests and t20.

I mean 1st match, 4 overs left and we had 6 wickets and they didn't go for it.

This.

WI won the goddamn world cup just 3 years ago, they are #1 ranked team in the world. They are still a laughing stock because they blow in the real formats of the game...the ones that actually require traditional cricket skills.

Plus this series was an ad hoc warmup.

Remember losing all 4 warmups vs Aus under 23s and Ireland last year?

Remember Zimbabwe thrashing SL and NZ at the same world cup?

Some teams suck at warmups. We also happen to suck at the homosexual format, but we ought to have enough lube to make it to the main round of 10.

1. We need brilliant fielders. Nasir was missed in that department.
2. We need our core players to feel comfortable in this format. Mushfiq Shakib Tamim Ryad Soumya are very good odi players but not as comfortable in t20 with the bat.
3. We need the tail to wag. Last match showed that if the tail can contribute we can get to 160 even with a top order collapse.
4. Cut down on dot deliveries. In t20 a single is like a dot delivery. Boundary followed by 3 dots wont help the run rate.
5. Capitalize on the first power play. We need 40-45 runs in the first 5 without losing more than one wicket.
6. Cut down on full tosses and half trackers. Taskin and Haider can bowl some mean yorkers and be ordinary in between. Got to tighten up.
7. Down the track hitting. Our batters are too keen on being cheeky behind the keeper than challenging long on long off deep mid wicket boundaries with proper cricket shots. We need to watch Waller and Masakadza and improve.
8. Aggressive captaincy. Mash needs to bring the magic of odis into his t20 captaincy. He seems to be defensive and also seems to struggle with bowling changes.

We just haven't focused on it until now. We have 8 practice games before the WC, 11 if you include the first round with associates. We have some idea of who belongs in thia format and who doesn't. We may not be a very good side but we should be better than previous world cups where we were purely clueless.

All chicks from all over the world will watch it once it'll be in Olympics. The new BCCI is leaning towards that and it will be by far best medal hope for Bangladesh.

But in tests we have a world class batting lineup, so we can at least draw matches.

Biggest joke of the year: "We don't need to be T20s coz only a few people care"

Are you freaking kidding me? We are ranked lower than Afghanistan and we will be a laughing stock if we don't improve, we are playing at the associate level in the WC, out batsmen can't even score one century till now let alone chase anything more than 160, we don't have a maxwell let alone faulkner in the team, the only format we are ranked in the top 8 is ODI and that too at 7 and we have become so delusional to think that T20s don't matter and it is OK to lose to Hong Kong?

I don't blame you, mashrafe too once said T20s is a joke of a game. That is where he is wrong, T20 is the face of cricket now with this form of cricket taking over all over the world. This is the future and WE SUCK.

First and foremost lets change our attitude. We need to pay a lot more importance to this game if we are to gain respect in the cricketing world, taking T20s lightly will surely bring dooms day closer for Bangladeshi cricket and the fans, coz the whole world is playing it seriously. Ask any Afghan fan and he will tell you, their team is a monster in T20s and a lot of teams fear them, no wonder they are improving at the rate they are.

Exactly

T20 is here to stay doesn't matter we like it or not. If we want to be a good team we need to focus on T20 as well as test and Odis

If we shouldn't care about t20s then we should just go into exile from this format. Saves us the trouble from embarrassing ourselves

Its a lousy excuse,as we care about tests but we suck at that as well and people have been saying tests won't be alive for long. So maybe we should stop caring about the longer format too?

To play better at T20, you just need to do arithmetic better.
9 runs an over = one boundary + 5 singles = 2 "quiet" overs + one three boundary blaster
11-12 runs an over ~ two boundaries + singles ~ One six + five singles

No need to be try weird shots before you take at least 5/6 singles.

I think our batters are just not T20 compatible.
Otherwise they would have learned it by now.
Tamim,Mushy,Sakib,Ryad have tons of international experience (ODI,T20s,Tests), these are players who have impressive stats in ODIs & Tests.
Still teams like Afgun & Zim doing better than us.
Players like Mazakadza,Waller could walk into our T20 team any day.

This is a tough challenge for coach HAthuresinhe, this will be the main test for him, he needs to give our batsmen some sort of a guideline because clearly our batters are incapable of making adjustment( thinking wise) in this format.

Trouble is...our "strongest" are just malnourished weaklings. They don't have the force to apply and force the runrate to climb. It's embarrassing that we haven't ever managed to score past the 168 mark in T20s.

1. Should borrow David Warner's bat
2. Should study the mechanics of how to apply forces to ensure that ball crosses boundary line.
3. Adopt some of Gayle's attitude towards the game.
4. Repeat steps 1-3
