Default Rant after the BD innings against UAE

We need a dramatic rethink of our T20. The existing players don't work. I'm not convinced Shabbir should bat at 3. He plays better when he knows he has to get going right away. If they feel like Riyadh should play (as the skipper), he should open. Mash should retire from T20s. We should drop these Nurul furuls and get natural strikers or rotators. We tell Shakib either he makes the side as a spinner only or else. Bring back Ashraful. SS should be in the middle order if he wants to play just fast cameos. Shamsur has to come back. Imrul Kayes should be nowwhere near this squad. Bring in some new young guns. If we are going to lose, let's get the Mirazes and Shantos the experience.

Absolutely not.

Forget about his treasonous act.

a. Still he sucks, not consistent
b. Fluky batsman, not consistent
c. Haven't even played domestic unlike Amer
d. Geriatric issue

If yous are this desperate post me a medium (being generous here) sized mens kit and I'll open.

Christ, cant envisage Don-al Islam having a good debut plus the ICC will be curious why a whitey is playing for Bangladesh but I'll be better than Ash that I can promise.

Bangladesh won when they crossed 125, I am a usual rant-er on this forum and I rant quite a bit but I knew that we will be winning anyways because this same side of UAE struggled to score even 115 runs against weaker Lanka attack, and our bowling is far better.

However, our batting was poor no doubt. And that drop from Soumya, my GOD

Ranting after watching half of an innings in a cricket match is like posting a review on imdb watching half of godfather 1.

Shakib mushy soumya outta form. No tamim. I dont agree that we need a total revamp. Its just our main batters out of form together.

Utterly disgusted with Mr Soumya Sarkar He is living too lethargically for my liking. Needs step up or face drop for world t20!!

What to rant about? Souyma failing? Mushfiq failing? Poor batting against an associate?

No complain about the bowling today.... but batting was hard to swallow.

And I blame the senior players for that. One senior player move one step forward, the rest go two steps behind.... and that is the main problem....its not the performance and inconsistency of the young players... its not the experimentation by the coach...its senior players collectively fails and not yet consistent.... that's the biggest problem.

The senior players are supposed to lead from the front day in day out.... not hide behind the new players and suddenly once in a while show up.... that will take us no where... that's the problem.

Mithun and SS were not perfect....they are not supposed to be.... but they gave the rest of the senior batsman a perfect platform to score 160.... but they messed it up big time and if not Riyad's last over..... we wouldn't even crossed 120 today.

"BD dont desrve test status" ... is one of those typical missing from the list. On a serious note, getting tired of watching BD boys under performing in big stage. Pathetic really.

We made the QF in wc and won three bilateral series against top sides. The U19 made semis. What under performance are you referring to?

This is a brand new format the players, the team, even the fans in BD are getting accustomed to. It will take some time. We learned a lot of things about ODIs slowly, in this series we are learning how to keep hold of the innings in the middle overs together, where to pitch the ball when it is favouring fast bowlers, who to ball when, batting order subtleties... we will get there, in 2 years time BD will be competing in a major way with top teams also... need patience (something even I find hard to gather sometimes)

This has been a difficult wicket. The batting order has the right resources to be decent and post 150 regularly. Mushfiq, Shakib arent going to be out of form forever. These two guys will arrive hopefully before this tournament is over. We just need a spark to ignite the engine. It is around the corner so no need to panic just yet.

Brand new format? Come on man. T20 was introduced over 10 years ago. How many T20 world cup have we played in so far? Every country was introduced to T20 at the same time. I remember a lot of us had such high hopes. People were like BD batsman already play with so much 'tarahura', this format will come easy to them. Here we are, 10 years later after the format was introduced and are struggling to cross 140 against players who are probably using up their personal time off from their regular job to play in this tournament. This is just embarrassing.

Tanvir bro there is no 2 years time. 2 years ago we lost to freaking Hong Kong in this very format, that too at home during the world cup. So what did we learn from our experience 2 years ago in this format?

Brand new format in the sense that if ODIs have been around for 60 years then T20 is newer comparatively. Obviously it took time for Bangladesh to know how to play this, I think we need to hold BPL more and play in this format more to know that it is not about tarahura as you said, it is also about playing proper cricketing shots. Kohli never takes a risk yet scores at 160 SR. This sort of stuff comes from playing in this format, and after 2 years and us playing BPL 5, maybe we will understand how to play it. But yah, goes to show we have not been a fast learner yet...

The tournament is not over yet, we got two big game to be played, and both are somewhat "must win game". Lets see how boys face up the jobs in hand. I have hope since our bowling is doing good, but the batting need to improve a lot. However, as a nation as we know [we all agree or not] tends to mess up in big stage due to lack of consistency, and that is my concern. No need to list up those "failures" or "well dones" because it always depend on ones perspective.

I agree with most of this.

1) Kayes should be dropped from the T20 squad, Tamim and Anamul/ Soumya to open. Mithun wasn't doing terribly bad either against UAE, he should be Tamim's replacement for now.

2) Playing Shabbir at #3 is also a terrible idea. #3 batsman should attempt to rebuild the innings and rotate strike. We can give Litton Das another chance, given his figures during U-19s. Shabbir can do a lot better as a death over batsman. Or open with Anamul and Tamim and play Soumya at #3?

3) I have to disagree with you. Mash is a decent bowler, sure he doesn't clock in at 150 km/s, but his captaincy is unparalleled by any other current Bangladeshi players. I mean come on his team won 3 consecutive BPLs. Bangladesh needs Mashrafe. I hope he keeps playing as long as he is physically capable.

4) Bring back Alok Kapali too, then? Ashraful is inconsistent AF. He hasn't even played any proper international cricket for like 4 years now, so he will also be severely out of form.

I would love to see us taking in a few U19 team players.

Um. Kohli is in a different level. I don't think any of our players have the ability to do what kohli does. So he is not really a good example. I know people like to hate on kohli, but gotta give credit where it's due
