Post 'Everyone cried in the dressing room'- 2003 Multan Test

I just stumbled upon this article and thought that it was more than useful to get insights from players who were actually playing in that match:

Selected quotes:
Quote:
I think Rafique bhai did the perfect thing by not mankading Gul. We were a struggling side back then and such an incident would have made life more difficult for us" MASHRAFE MORTAZA
Quote:
Mahmud: We were always positive in that Pakistan series, and it came from Dav. We tried to play attacking cricket. Dav used to say that we should learn, but make sure we keep attacking. The dressing-room mood was quite good.
Quote:
Mortaza: Javed bhai ran in from the covers to sledge Saqlain Mushtaq. We tried everything to get wickets.

Pakistani keeper Latif (and captain) admitted to cheating in that game. That summed everything up for me... what a sad game this was.

Quote:
"I did realise immediately that the ball rolled out of my hand and it touched the ground. I conveyed that to my senior players. I gave an option to recall the batsman but it was decided that we will let him go. But I have no regrets" - RASHID LATIF
The day I stopped supporting Pakistan for good. ^

well, for consolation sakes :

Quote:
he was suspended for five matches for wrongly claiming a catch during the series against Bangladesh. These incidents led to the souring of relations between him and the Pakistan board, and ultimately resulted in his stepping down from captaincy at the end of that series.

Means zip to me. It just showed me that the whole team decided together to cheat with us. I was heart broken! Keep in mind I grew up idolizing Saeed Anwar, Wasim Akram... what a shame!

Very True, yes, even after it has been revealed to other players that the ball clearly did not carry, no other teammates stepped up to correct the issue.

Mashrafe took 3 catches in the gully, as a substitute fielder....That's something special right there.

Thankfully I didn't start watching cricket that time, that loss would have been devastating to witness.

Did you watch the match vs Australia.. It was similar.. Maybe slightly worse. We were robbed, all series had poor umpiring against us like always

Nah bro, at the time it was only CI scores for me seeing as how I lived in Canada at the time and no way to watch it on tv (+ being at school and timing differences) also we had a dial-up connection

If you cried because umpires did not respond to genuine LBW of Inzi and Latif cheated which he boastfully keeps confessing later on, what did you do when you dropped in the hand of Mash the test against Ponting and Company.

All of you should have quit cricket that day.
