Default Match Thread: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan | 3rd ODI, Mirpur | The Decider

Bismillah.

Although I thought about retiring from BC last year...here I am, opening a match thread! No longer as prolific the poster I was, but I guess I'll never fully retire like Tehsin, Beamer, Zunaid, Ehsan, Rubu, Sadi, fwullah, AsifTheManRahman, and other legendary posters I'm forgetting right now.

I'm semi-retired like The Godfather after getting shot, joining the likes of Miraz.

Shout out to RazabQ and Tigers_Eye for having Trump like levels of "stamina" to keep going on this forum, full time.

Anyways...lets hope the Tigers can seal the series for our 6th consecutive series win!

Fantastic series so far...really enjoy backing the Afghans as my 2nd favorite team.

But we need to stomp all over them, and I think we will, to restore some pride.

Bring on the Poms!

Return series (after a long long time) for MH Rubel. I wish him all the best!

Expecting a better show from Taskin, Soumya too if he plays.

We may end up seeing Shafiul in the playing XI as Mash would insist to play with 3 pacers naturally.

I'm really scared ! Our selectors have messed it up big time.

This is my team for 3rd ODI :

1) Tamim
2) KaEdge
3) Mosaddek or Sabbir
4) Riyad
5) Shakib
6) Musfiq
7) Sabbir or Mosaddek
8) Nasir ( Selectors fault that I could not pick up 3rd pacer)
9) Mossaraf Rubel
10) Mashrafe
11) Taskin

12th Man: Soumya (for his fielding)

I would not select a mediocre pacer like Shafiul.

Let's win it Tigers !

Go Bangladesh Go !

Bangladesh and Afghanistan have played each other four times in ODIs. Each has won two matches. Afghanistan have now defeated Bangladesh twice in Bangladesh. The pressure is on Bangladesh for next game.

I know a lot of you want Mosaddek at no.3 but I hope the coaches wont make the same mistakes like they did with Soumya and many others. Mosaddek is a great player and I believe he could be the better and more consistent version of Nasir Hossain. But guys the difference between no.3 and no.7 batting is massive. When u are batting at no.3, u are responsible for building an innings and set the tempo for a finish. Its done by the best batsmen in every teams. While Mosaddek may very well be one of our best, putting him in this position right after debut is premature and can be very damaging to his form. Leave him where he is at the moment. Dont just play him somewhere because of team's sake. Its the seniors who should take the responsibility to adapt. if we need a no.3, it should be either Riyad or Mushfiq. The are experienced enough to go out of their comfort zone and bat higher then their usual. Let Mosaddek get at least 2-3 series of batting lower order and get him used to the level of cricket. Otherwise he could be going the same way as Soumya, Liton, Anamul and so on.

my squad...

Tamim
Imrul
Mushfiq
Riyad
Shakib
Shabbir
Mosaddek
Nasir
Mosharraf
Mashrafe
Shafiul

Relying on Shakib-Mash-Mosharraf to bowl 30 and get majority of the wickets. Wont be difficult to get 20 overs from Shafi-Nasir-Mosaddek and Riyad

Never seen this Mosharraf person bowl, but does he actually spin the ball and not just go through the motions?

We should forget about finding specialist spinners for ODIs because none of them are good enough to warrant a place only as a bowler. Our odi team becomes more balanced when we have people like Nasir, Mosaddek playing the spinners role along with batting. Aishob sunny taijul mosharaf etc dia kisu hobena

Mosharrof Hossain Rubel has had a couple of outstanding BPL games but He is not always consistent.

The management/think tank actually decided to field Imrul instead of Soumya but i think the coach decided to change his mind half an hour before match started to field Soumya. I think a few BC members made a personal call to Coach to do this

I think Mosaddek should bat at no. 6

Mosaddek seems to be quite adept at rotating the strike and play crisp shots, but also play unorthodox shots when needed. Can muscle the ball as well. I think, Mushy has to bat at no. 3. He is still our best bet against the pace bowlers uptop and can handle Nabi. Riad to bat at 4

Tamim
Imrul
Mushy
Riad
Shakib
Mosaddek
Sabbir
Taijul
Mashrafe
MHR
Taskin Ahmed

Either we keep Taijul or replace him with Nasir Hossain. Problem is, Nasir isn't that effective an offie but can do the job. Also, he isn't that good with the bat these days so slotting him in a pressure position is not the best thing to do. Remember, he is not the strongest batsman in the world.

Best of luck, I personally feel Nasir for Soumya should be the only change. But if it really a turner, then replacing Taskin with any other spinner would work too.

Rubel Hussain is not in the squad. So there will be atleast one change from the 2nd ODI playing XI. Probably they will make 2 changes.

Soumya out --- KaEdge in
Rubel out --- Mosharraf in

3rd ODI will be played on 1st ODI wicket, so it would not be as slow and low as 2nd ODI wicket.

I meant replace Rubel with a spinner.
