Default Is Shabbir ready for Test cricket?

My bad BC fan, I know shabbir is a good player in t20 and odi but he is not ready for test cricket atm. The reason is he played too high risk shorts and don't have enough passion to stick at the crease. He will play quick 30 /40 runs but in test cricket it is not useful generally. I would groom Liton Nafees or others to play in no 7 position. Also somuya is another case whom I am not sure he is also ready.

Food for thought guys....

Another one of Haturi's retarded decision, apart from persisting with Soumya in the same format.

What are we going to achieve by playing flashy batsman in Tests? Neither Soumya or Sabbir have the temperament to bat long in tests. Don't even have the technique either. But commonsense is something Haturi and selectors lack.

Mosaddek, Litton, Nafees, Nurul are more adept for the time being. They have the patience to stick it out.

Fan of Sabbir but he doesn't have the temperament or runs behind him to be picked as a sole batsmen.. Mossadek has both the temperament and runs behind him also the ability to bowl.. not happening as he's one of haturis favorite sons along with SS.

Only two Tests ago he had back to back 50s (one even not out). And now we are saying he isn't ready for Test?

Barring mushfiqur and mominul who's in the Bangladesh team has the temperament to play long innings.

Almost all the batsmen plays test matches like t20s.

It's not about how many runs he's scoring, its more about how's he scoring them. He plays way too many Shots

He will learn that with time. Plus he can grind it out too. Look at his partnership with mushy in the 2nd innings of the first match. He has to play shots more often than not coz he usually bats with the tail and thus needs to be aggressive.

So Warner shouldnt play test cricket?

End of the day, runs matters, doesn't matter which format and how they come.

Shabbir is READY for test cricket. You want Mosaddek/Liton ahead of him? Tell me why? coz they average 50/70+ in NCL? if so, then there is no point stating how hugeeeee difference is there is between Test cricket and picnic cricket NCL...

This would be my team:

1 tamim
2 liton+
3 mominul
4 mushy
5 sabbir
6 mosaddek
7 shakib
8 mehedi
9 taijul/whoever is 3rd pacer
10 taskin
11 fizz

Soumya/imrul probably the next in batsmen. I know keeping and opening isn't normal but liton does it domestically so maybe he can handle it in tests as well.

3rd pacer is hard to workout we have shahid, hider, ebadat, jayed. I'd probably lean towards hider or shahid for now, see how ebadat goes domestically as well as saifuddin.

But as to the thread topic yes I think sabbir is just as ready as any other young or older BD batting prospect for test cricket.

No.

If those want flashy, quick runs. We have Shakib and Tamim at the top for that. How many flashy, ultra aggressive players you want at test? Dont justify his selection by giving the example of Warner, because we have many in the side who do that role.

Another option Nasir would've added is with the bowling, more than useful overs especially when some of the bowlers are tired.

Liton, has the perfect technique as long as he doesn't over plays risky down the leg side, and if he rectifies his offside issue.

Test match is a test of temperament, character, why isn't some our fans not getting it? Sabir, Soumya are far too flashy, how many do you want in the side? That's 4!

We need test players who can play long innings.

Honestly what is sabbir doing that is different from Tamim? I don't understand why sabbir is getting so much criticism. I could easily open a thread asking when will tamim be ready for test?

Exactly. At least sabbir can play according to match situation. He has only played few tests. Not like tamim who always seems like a rookie and a walking wicket after playing 10 yrs. stupid thread. Ask if tamim is ready for test yet?

Oh yea what an opener, scored 5 and 8 in the last NZ test. Scored 28 and 3 (facing 11 balls in a match saving situation) in this test. But he opens the innings so all is forgiven. Thanks for opening champ!

If you gave me an option on who should debut in tests for Bd either shabbir or mosaddek id have picked mosaddek. But right now shabbir is in the fold and has showed he can do the job. Tbh if you question what he has done in tests then you can question him in ODIs as well. He is still yet to score big in any of those of formats even though he does score quickly in ODIs. However in ODIs he was batting low down the order for a while.

I wish he was as swaggy as Kohli with the bat rather than talking like Kohli. Faster he realizes this the better it will be for Bangladesh.

Shabbir has zero credibility and his fans should know that. He is yet to score a big one and we treat him like he's the next ATG. Wake up. He had one good Asia cup in T20 format. Wake up guys wake up. Come back to me when he scores a century. Otherwise his fans just should keep their mouth shut.

I don't agree with Hathuri's instinctive method of picking players. It may work in ODIs and T20s but it's definitely not the right method for Tests. Shabbir may or may not be ready but there is no reason why him and Soumya should be picked ahead of players who have consistently proven themselves in FC cricket like Mosaddek and Liton. This is not how Test cricket works. No other team does this.

By now Shabbir is yet to score a century in any format and he plays as a batsman. What's there to brag about?
