Default Banglacricket Official Poll of 2017: Who is your favorite cricketer?

Hit thread. Zeeshan is back.

....

Also write why.

p.s. I just selected 11. Old Timers like Rafique, Akram, Pilot, Bulbul had to be omitted. I know I included Athar sir, but he is niche person. lol

I will go first.

Undoubtedly Tamim. Sure Shakib has boss mentality, but what Tamim started in our team that was something of a pioneer. Aggressive batting, kinda like what Sehwag-Warner did for their teams. If he didn't start it who knows when the next paradigm shift would happen.

Ultimately it is the Tiger attitude. You are out there to go play cricket. Play cricket. Do I concede his form fell a little since Lord's era as someone mentioned in Cricinfo commentary re: 2010? Absolutely.

But still individually he does have healthy test average, has a double, has a T20 century and I think highest in one day.

Other than that his brand of aggressiveness - albeit with caution- is indeed sparkling and refreshing indeed.

Shak. We don't really know what we have. Once he leaves the team....

Seems like he is about to turn the corner with the bat. Good news for BD cricket. 4 more years please.

Should be a hit thread.

Tough choice between Shak and Mash for me. I agree with T_E. As a batsman he's world class and one of our best. Same can be said about Shak the bowler. South Africa lost quite a few greats in the last few years. They're successful at finding replacements for each of them except Kallis. Shak is our Kallis. Once he retires we'll always be one batsman or bowler short. If Miraz miraculously improves his batting then he may come close to filling his shoes.

Mash is the heart and soul of our team. He inspires with his words and leads by example and brings the best out of each team member. He's the primary reason behind the resurgence of the tigers. Without his leadership we'd still be considered a minnow. He's the kind of inspirational leader I didn't think we're capable of producing yet. My head says Shak but my heart says Mash.

It's Mash for sure for his amazing leadership and sportsmanship. I don't know what we will do without him

I would have picked Shakib if he wasn't so reckless off late. Mushy and Tamim is up there too in my fav list !!!

Imrul. He never got the thanks he deserved for literally carrying the batting in 2011 World Cup or else we would have been a complete laughing stock in that tourney (which we already were).

Your younger players like Shabbir, Sarkar, Mehdi, Fizz are really good. They are brave and fit perfectly in modern cricket.

Never rated oldies like Mash, Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiq etc. As good as they are, they bring old memories when BD used to be an associate team and as an outsider its very tough to rate them in high regards.

My fav Bangla cricketers are between Soumya and Fizz. But if you push me to select one, its Soumya Sarkar. What talent, what class, those off side shots...wow wow wow.

I see Sarkar as next captain for BD in both formats. He can take the team to new heights like Ganguly did for us.

Interesting point, but I do agree somewhat. Whenever a new player comes in he is playing for a higher ranked team and that automatically makes him seem like a better player. What that means is we should be getting better with time automatically, provided we keep doing what we are doing, build onwards and improve as well. But I am sure the newer players from the new generation are better than the older ones, too many examples to count. But then again, you have players like Tamim who is by far the best opener from bangladesh and no one has been able to overtake him, then you have Shakib the best allrounder probably in the world and Miraz is his replacement but not really, Miraz is all class but he still has to show. We could replace Mashrafe I agree with a better player now though, but he brings something else to the table we all know.

I guess with the coming years we will see some fine young players from Bangladesh, maybe the most exciting ones in the world.I just hope we get someone like ABD.

Mashrafe for sure, his leadership made us believe.

He broke the barrier and made the team feel we have arrived, we can win, not only compete.

Also, his sacrifice for our nation, those injuries etc... not often people fight back like he does.

BDFlag Tamim all the way

For me, excluding ex-players, without any second thought, it's Tamim.

Among all types of cricketers, I'm biased to genuine fast bowlers and opening batsmen. Among batsmen, lefties with class always attract me. Tamim is such.

Be is undoubtedly a world class batsman. He was inconsistent, aggressive and little flamboyant in past. Now he has become more mature. But his shots never changed much, very elegant to watch. Although there are other free flowing batsmen in the current lot; but no one comes close to Tamim's style.

Special mentions: Shakib, Mash & Fizz.

I agree. He changed the "vitu Bangali" image to some extent. I will always cherish teen Tamim's sixer against Zaheer Khan on 2007 WC.

His (Soumya's) fielding. That is even more impressive. I thought Nasir was our best fielder. Then came Sabbir. But Soumya has this calm vive that others can't match.

Most here don't know the impact of GOOD slip fielder. It is more than scoring 50 with the bat EVERY GAME.

Also the importance of good look with patla chul.
Plus mesmerizing voice and captivating nonstop speaking ability at the field and in front of the mike a plus too..
