Tamim's muscle pull turned out to be grade-1 tear, which takes 7-10 days to heal. He is pretty much out of contention for the 1st Test. However, he is still hoping for a miraculous faster healing.

So no Shakib and Tamim for first test.

This is gonna be legendary with Mushy and Riyad running the show.

Some unconfirmed news sources also claiming Soumya picked up a hand injury during the practice match. He has not batted in the second innings of the match, waiting on scan report to know extent of the injury. Nazmul Shanto has been called up as an injury cover.

Channel 24 confirms Soumya's hand injury. Shanto is in consideration as an injury cover, no decision made yet.

As per Akram Khan, Tamim got a groin injury, not muscle tear. Akram thinks both Tamim-Soumya should be fine for the first Test (minute 11).

Soumya batting again
Quote:
Soumya, according to the physio Thihan Chandramohan, had jarred his shoulder while fielding in the tour game in Benoni. Although he is back in the nets, with just a day between today and the first Test against South Africa starting here on Thursday, there may be a way to go yet for Soumya to be match fit. Unlike Tamim, Soumya took no part in the warm-ups and the throwing exercises. He threw a few balls gingerly at Chandramohan, but that was about it.

In the nets too, he was batting against the slower bowlers while three of his teammates faced the fast men in the adjoining nets.

Tomorrow, the eve of the Test, may well be the last opportunity for the left-hander to prove his full fitness.

All other players seemed fit, as the full complement of fast bowlers were bowling in full flow at the spicy wickets of the Senwes Park nets.
Opportunity for Liton, I guess.

I'd be happy if liton got a chance, he deserves it, but if he gets it he must take the opportunity and run with it.

Tamim out of the 2nd Test with aggravated thigh injury that he sustained in the warm-up match. Soumya will replace him.

Another lifeline for Imrul!

Did Tamim play the first test realizing the importance of his presence in the team?

Normally, the injury he picked in the warm up game would have taken more time to recover. He shouldn't have played the first match to begin with.

So two of the three pillars of our batting will be gone.

Will mushfiq (the third pillar) step up as a batman?

Cats have seven lives and Imrul has even more.

Who's decision was it to let injured Tamim play in the 1st TEST? It didn't helped us, it hurt us in 1st TEST and will continue to pay the price of wrong decision upto ODI series or beyond. Regardless how good a player is, you should NEVER include a unfit player in the TEST.

^^ With no fit replacement left on the bench, Akram Khan was ready to send Shanto on emergency basis. But Tamim told his chachchu he would recover enough in time for the 1st Test.

Well, Nannu has not learnt his lesson yet. He wants unfit Tamim to go on playing and keep aggravating his injury
Quote:
Bangladesh chief selector and currently acting as a team manager, Minhajul Abedin Nannu has informed that the team management will be waiting for the opener till the last moment.

“We are still hoping for Tamim to play. We will wait till the last moment,” Minhajul told on Wednesday.

Grade 1 tear usually takes four weeks to heal. If Tamim takes rest for 10-12 days, he could be able to play the ODI series, which starts from October 15.

In this condition there is not much difference between Tamim and Imrul.

The whole team morale is down and I do not see any vigorous attempt to lighten it up.

Ok.... Tamim and chachu (Akram) and Chachu's friend (Nannu) go ahead and further damage your leg... and screw the team and your career.

Afterall its not my carrier we are talking about.... why should I care? We better have some tagra players in the team... otherwise who is going to carry tamim in the field? Or is it Rahim and Momin is planning to carry tamin in the field and off the field?

Only good news for Bangladesh is Morne out too with injury. Rabada will be leading an young and relatively inexperienced SA attack.

Green Bloemfontein track promises pace and bounce

Quote:
For Duanne Olivier, who plays his first-class cricket in Bloemfontein for Knights, the news cannot be better. "I saw a few pictures. I think on day one it will be a bit slow but then there'll be some bounce and it will quicken up towards day three and four," the fast bowler said. If that is the case, Manguang Oval will depart heavily from its norm of flat and run-laden tracks.

Just two weeks ago, in the first-class season opener, the Knights and Cobras played out a high-scoring draw at the venue, albeit on a different pitch to the one that will be used for the Test. After Cobras were bowled out for 159, 1190 runs were scored in two innings, including seven centuries, for the loss of 10 wickets.

Cobras' coach Ashwell Prince said the track was so flat both teams felt they could "bat for another week", and that was not a good thing. He criticised the surface as "definitely not good for South African cricket" because the "bat dominated" and he pointed out that it did not even break up for the spinners to come into the game.

Olivier played in that match and bowled 44 overs, 31 of them in the second innings when he went wicketless. Though that experience was forgettable, he has enjoyed more successful outings at the ground in the past, and was the leading wicket-taker in first-class cricket last season, when Knights won the title.

"Two weeks ago, the wicket was quite flat and there wasn't much assistance but it will be different this time," he said. "Previously, too, the wickets were a bit slow up front and Marchant (de Lange) and I bowled really well together. It's about being aggressive and being patient. At times Marchant was the aggressor and other times we changed roles with me being more aggressive."

Yes Liton's inclusion alone will lighten up this odi series.
This will be the most watched odi series in the history of odi series.
