Default Who should be BD test captain?

Although we have done fairly well in recent Test results I feel there is something missing in leadership for the test team. Do you not agree?

Here in our BC community, what is our collective feelings on this subject? Put forth your reasons if you think there should be a captain change. I can surely argue on both sides.

Argument for Musfique:

Don't chop change leadership. Stability is more important for improvement. Send him to captaincy training or something. Or get a Great captain and let Mushfique spend some time with him.

He is the best bat we got. May be take his WK responsibility for him to concentrate on captaincy.

(I typed it up with a straight face, lol)

Miraz: The boy's name should be sponge. He takes in all that is thrown at him. U-19 experience.

Too young? How old was G Smith when he took over the captaincy? How many senior senior player was in the team? Miraz is a natural leader. Unless you put him there you wouldn't know how talented and inspiring he can be.

Sabbir. The future of BD. Groom him.

His eyes!!!! Eye of the Tiger....

We need one who can take over in all formats. He is getting the consistency done soon.

Shakib is the natural leader of this bunch. However, making him the official captain will mean Papon will have to intervene lot more frequently with all these head butting Hathuru and Shakib will get into.

Miraz is my first option.

But the likely outcome would be Tamim.

I love Miraz and he is matured

But Miraz hasn't showed maturity with the bat just yet and unless he starts doing so I won't be convinced

Miraz is useless on pitches that doesn't offer much turn, Unless he improves his batting and get that avg upto 30-35 I dont see we picking him outside Asia.

your captain needs to be a first choice

Looks like Rahim is a mentally challenged person with some symptom of village idiot with a track record of selfishness. He cannot be a good leader or a role model for the young players.

He is completely opposite of what Mashrafee is as a captain.

Short Term, even they are not perfect, Tamim or sakib would be a good choice. In the mean time BCB should groom a new Captain out of the new breed of players like Miraj/Nazmul or someone else.

why are we even talking about Shabbir and Miraz? Shabbir doesnt even warrant a place in the 14 let alone be a captain. He doesnt even understand the format and its just Haturi's stupidity he is in the team. It will take a long time before he even gets the format. Miraz.. i said it before and i will say it again.... he is a potential leader of the future but right now, he is young, inexperienced. His batting is still unpredictable and his bowling needs a lot of aid from the condition to be effective.

Its between Shak and Tam for the role and I would give it to Tamim. I think their captaincy skills are similar but Tamim is a more professional personal and will also keep a lot of unnecessary swag and bias away compared to Shakib

Let me be the devil's advocate here.

Shak Fu: Needs rest time to time. Will retire from Test cricket sooner than you think. Will chew up people if not performing (miss fielding etc.) on live TV. Will grow few extra wings for sure.

Tamim: I am not sure how much more matured he has become than Mushfiq. Did you see him play the last ball of the day? Marginal difference of damn caring of 121/4 to 127/3. The risk was astronomical. Played like a pro bowler.

Nothing is missing from the leadership. Mushy is the best leader we've got right now. But as usual few of my friends here r trying to make him the culprit for our horrendous performance in south africa, but the truth is he hasn't done much wrong in this test.

Mahmudullah Ryad is the only captaincy mterial we hve.
He will be the opposite of Mushy, not mny runs but better captaincy.

Look at option we have right now. All of them are terrible.

1. Shakib: Horrible choice. The guy has abandoned his team and decided not to play in a test series which is perhaps one of the most difficult serieses Bangladesh have played in recent times. This type of irresponsible and egotistical player can never be the leader of a national team.

2. Mirz: Another terrible choice. He doesn't even deserve a place in the playing 11 outside Asia. He got hammered in new Zealand and now getting similar treatment in SA as well. This guy depends on doctored rank turners to get wickets. In addition he isn't a good batsman either since he has lots of holes in his batting technique. So, outside Asia he's neither a bowler nor a batter. A perfect example of bits and pieces cricketer who doesn't deserve a spot in the playing 11 let alone leading the side.

3. Mashrafee: Seriously? This guy isn't fit enough to last 5 hours in a 50 over ODI match and here ppl r expecting him to last 5 days?

Besides this, he's become a mediocre bowler off late and his 120 km pies certainly won't give him any wickets. Truth is, mash doesn't deserve a spot in playing 11 in any form of cricket. Any other decent side would've surely forced him to retire by now due to his poor fitness, but here we r thinking about making him a test captain

4. Shabbir: lol. If anyone is interested to know the number of shabbir's brain cell he should watch shabbir's batting, on field antics or read the comments he made about his aggressive batting approach.

5. Tamim : Only player in our team who's suitable for the captaincy job right now. But he's the best batsman of our team who is going through a purple patch. Added responsibility might hamper his batting form and we might lose the only test quality batsman we have in our whole team.

Mushy is by far the best captain Bangladesh has ever produced. He has led his team from the front with both both bat and gloves. This should be the quality of a captain.

But sadly here we see that players who doesn't come to bowl during death overs, doesn't come to bowl when opposition gets on top and usually hides behind young players get all the respect for some unexplainable reasons.

Agree with this. BUT Gadha can't score runs in test cricket.

Otherwise, would have been clear favourite for the captaincy.

I wanted Shakib but dont know if he is still interested in Tests. I also wanted Riyad, but his place is not secured and is not in Haturu's good book. But I think Riyad as a captain will do lot better if given the opportunity. But thats not going to happen.

So Tamim it is.

Tamim is like an enforced choice. But - I think he will be huge improvement to Mushy.

I mean, both Tamim and Mushy's captaincy in BPL was horrific.
They have been pretty bad, and that's being kind.

Tamim had Chittagong Kings/Vikings (under achieved a lot last BPL + others)
And Mushy what can we say? we just know, even the recent Barisal incident.
