Comilla have Mahedi Hasan - top order batsman/offspinner, who played for the A-team recently. They also have Mehedi Hasan Rana - left arm quick, who played for the U/19 team last year.

^^ Not sure which Milon you're talking about. Only Milon I remember is Nazmul Hossain Milon, who seemed to have disappeared from our domestics.

^^ That's puzzling. If you look at scorecards of U/19 matches, provided in Milon's CI profile, it matches Mehedi Hasan Rana's performances! I am guessing some scorer mislabeled Rana as Milon.

Here is Rana's profile, born at Chandpur on the same exact date - http://www.espncricinfo.com/banglade...er/878465.html

^Welcome to Sylhet...

Just saw the video, many upset because they couldn't get more than one ticket, as they wanted to take it for their family members, friends etc. The demand is very high.

I wish the cheap Sylheti owners shown more passion like the fans.. and bought some good players.

Dhaka-Sylhet will be a full house (hopefully there isn't any technical problems on the day)

I think why the past few editions of BPL failed was due to having only 4 foreign players. Let's be honest, our locals are just anywhere near as good as those in India where they allow 4 foreign players per team. 5 foreign players will actually be good for both the BPL and players.

Maybe becuase the newbies dont have to come in front and perform.. they will be shadowed by the foreign players... Good for BPL no doubt... not sure about the players

First game will be so loud, housefull. Stadium will be packed even thousands outside or around green gallery.

No nobody bothered to talk about this (as this isn’t in Dhka or Ctg). Sylhet stadium has gone through an uplift with a new stand added so K pressume the capacity is around 25k now. Plus theres hill called green gallery, with grassbank too which Bangladesh first ever hill gallery, grass bank. No one talks about. I think the stadium can fit 30k with the green gallery, grass bank if people stand squeeze in.

The ruling is. 3 minimum foreign players and the option is 5 allowed at max and not 5minimum. Some people misunderstanding this rule.

I just want to know what's the deal with Willey. Read on Isam's preview dated yesterday that he is in the squad. No mention of him missing the entire tournament.

Quote:
The batting line-up will also have Kusal Perera, Johnson Charles and Sam Hain among their overseas options while among the locals, they have Mohammad Mithun and Shahriar Nafees.

Ravi Bopara, David Willey, Thisara Perera and Ziaur Rahman will provide all-round thrust while Mashrafe Mortaza and Rubel Hossain will lead the pace attack. A lot of the work, however, will fall on Samuel Badree who will get help from Sohag Gazi, Abdur Razzak and Elias Sunny in the spin department.

I have a funny feeling Sylhet will be the dark horses. Most likely Chittagong will come dead last. I don't want Dhaka to win it. I actually liked it when Comilla won it. They have been a wonderful edition to this franchise. I don't know how many other state/cities there are in Bangladesh. Like to see the tournament expand to at least 8 teams.

Here is the latest I got from an UK daily -
Quote:
Lyth was to be joined by Yorkshire team-mate David Willey in Rangpur but the new father has since pulled out of the competition.

Watson (Dhaka) also pulled out the tourny with a calf injury.

Thanks, this one is more accurate.

You know what I don't get... is the coverage of this competition on cricinfo. They don't even have a squads list.

Why don't the BPL have an official website?

Even CPL had an official website.

Poor.

For some reason I'm actually excited about this year's BPL. And I haven't watched a game since BPL 2 or 3.

Professionalism from BCB is asking too much. After all bcb runs the BPL.

I’m more excited to see cricket in Sylhet Venue which is by miles the best cricketing site in Desh. And I’m sure players will love the surroundings and clean air, tea gardens. A long overdue. Matches away from Dhaka is a big change and a relieve for the fans who has been watching BD cricket for long time. But wait, most of it will he held in Dhaka. Damn! Spoke to early.

IMO, Rajshahi made a wise decision to keep Sammy as the captain, not to hand it over to to Mushfiq. Sammy took them to final last year with a weaker team. It will be interesting to see how far they can go this year.

BPL format is wrong.
5 overseas player will probably open the both bowling and batting, then nation player and some discarded. what are the chances of under 19 or upcoming players.

it should be mandatory to have some uncapped player in every team
also 4 overseas player should be allowed, not 5

5 overseas players is an option not mandatory, 3 is mandatory at any game, being the minimum.

Hope people understand now.

I think it’s a brilliant idea. All for it. English Premier league dominated by foreign even though we have plenty of UK/English born players there to choose from, the pool of players is big. But foreigners add more to it, more hype and brand is more bigger that way, followed more.

In BPL the local pool isn’t great, other than the nats and some who surrounding the national side. 5 options to have foreigners will add more depth, quality to the league. But the ruling also should been one local batsman had to open batting and bowling, least, in the top 5 batting 3 has to be Local.

5 foreign player was fine if Barisal or another franchise was here. But with only 7, its a gunshot at the local players..We would have to see some B grade Pakistani, Lankan players when we couldve watched Junayed Siddique, Shahadat and some other guys

Some big players have been drafted in this year's BPL but I am worried the organising will be poor by BCB this time too. Add to that the cringeworthy commentary and overall poor broadcasting. And worst of all there will be clearly visible signs of match fixing on display. I doubt there will be anything premier about it.
