Default Biggest away support

I was surprised by the amount of support we had in South Africa and wondered where it would rank in terms of amount of supporters coming to the stadium and backing the boys. I would rate it as 3rd on the list.

1. England
2. Australia
3. South Africa
4. Ireland
5. Sri Lanka
6. New Zealand

We haven't played in UAE for a while, so haven't included it on this list but I can imagine we would get strong support there.

I think the most I've ever seen has to be Bangladesh v Australia where we had an estimate of 8,000 - 12,000 at the Oval during the Champions Trophy.

The best atmosphere has to be England v Bangladesh at the Champions Trophy.

Why isn't Australia in there, we get big crowds if the match is in SCG in Sydney.

Lol NZ is the worst for Bangladeshis. I've seen BD v NZ matches in NZ where there wasn't a single BD supporter in attendance. I know plenty of Bangladeshis from my generation there that would prefer to support the NZ cricket team during a BD v NZ game. Common bandwagoners, really, because if Bangladesh win a few games, they suddenly regain their patriotism.

For those of you who have watched a match in Australia what's the biggest turnout there has ever been?

We've had a lot of support in the UAE. I would rate the away support in the top 4 and the game in Florida would make USA 5th ahead of Ireland.

Champions Trophy: England vs Bangladesh. Oval Full capacity. 60/40 to Bangladesh support. The whole stadium including the staff stood up when Tamim scored 100.

CT Oval: BD vs Aus: Full crowd 5% Australia.

BD vs Aus Cardiff: 60% capacity. Of that 80% Bangladesh support including English fans. At the end tbh everybody was a Bangladeshi fan. Aussies were too drunk. One foul mouth Indian Aussie chamcha.

at the end of the BD vs Aus game in 2005 Cardiff there was some English fans who supported Bangladesh, one who had a BD top.

But his mate was jumping with so much joy more than a Bangladeshi fan that I asked him why.

He put £20 on Bd to win. Odds that day 1:100. Offered us to pay for drinks

Seeing the number of Bangladeshi fans in the first match vs Srilanka was mind blowing. This has to be the biggest away support Bangladesh ever had. The stadium was like another Mirpur. The next big crowd Bangladesh would ever get is if they play in Saudi Arabia.

How was the crowd in the Pak match?

Did we outnumber them at their 'home'?

The first t20 against West Indies in Florida had huge Bangladeshi support. 90% of the crowd were supporting BD. I'd say that was bigger.

The match with Sri Lanka in Dubai saw 23000 people, out of which 20000 at least were Bangladeshis

Yeah. In fact, neither of the two Ind vs Pak matches had as much crowd.

Would definitely put U.A.E at No.1. Even in the India game, Bangladeshi fans were outnumbering them.

For alot of BD expat like me, it is such a proud moment to listen to our National Anthem being played and cheering our team on foreign soil.

I am guessing for the fans who were in Florida it must have been just epic.

Yes and yes but I was comparing the percentage of fans compared to the opposition, not how many people attended. In the first T20s against Windies in Florida, 90% of the fans were Bangladeshis easily if not more. There is a reason why Shakib and co said it felt like they were playing in Mirpur.

Anyone remember the 1997 qualifying matches in Malaysia? I think those matches had 90% Bangladeshi support from our BD people working there. And they used to be packed from what we could see on TV. They were not much compared to proper stadiums but nice to see such large groups.

I remember when we were playing a crucial match against Ireland which was washed out where they even tried to dry the field with helicopters. BD fans got onto the field to help soak away the water.

Although I remember the harrami Malaysian police bringing large German Shepards to contain the Bangladeshi supporters.

90% in an away match is more impressive than 23k in Dubai with 50-60% fan percentage.
++++
EDEN Garden's official capacity is 66k+. MCG 100k.

There are 8 COLLEGE FOOTBALL stadiums which are larger than MCG (Capacity)

Univ of Michigan - 113k.
Penn State - 110k.
Ohio State Univ - 104.9k.
Texas A & M - 102.7k.
Univ of Tennessee - 102.4k.
LSU - 102.3k.
Univ of Alabama - 101.8k.
Univ of Texas - 100.1k.

Every year, for 6-7 home games they are always full. Such is their passion.

There are more than 50 stadiums in college Football which are bigger than Eden Garden capacity wise. People can't even fathom the atmosphere on a night game in LSU or Ann Arbor. The only other stadium can come close to the college football is Seattle Seahawks. They literally created earth quakes just by roaring. I am not making this up.

Is it true about the Pakistanis buying tickets or were you making a joke?

if true Now they can make some extra cash by selling it to their Bangladeshi "brothers". Pakistanis are quite entrepreneurial
