Default *** The official Ariful Haque thread ***

Why is this guy never been considered in our T20 squad? We have been looking for so long for someone who can hit the bowl and yet score 1s and 2s regularly.

This guy was around before in BPL as well and played some crucial knocks. Today he played really well, didnt let the scoreboard pressure get on him. Got the 1s and 2s and after the time out, turned around the game in 1-2 overs. We all know very well that at least he wont do any worse than Imrul, Shabbir etc.

Imagine him and Saifuddin down the order. We have good power hitting that we have missed.

The good thing is that he is making use of the opportunities that he gets.

His stats in all formats:

Looking at his stats...

In 67 FC games, he averages 29
In 76 List A games, he averages 24
In 36 T20 games, he averages 20, with a SR of 118.

Selectors/management love ignoring BPL standouts it seems.. Nazmul Hossain Milon, AH Rony, Mehedi Maruf.. only one player got a decent run post BPL performances was Shamsur Rahman.

I dont know.... he kind of caught my attention from nowhere.

Very good matured innings two games in a row.

May be his nothing spectacular career average was keeping him out, but I cannot deny he played those two games better than some of our national batsman....I think we need to monitor him more closely....

Because they would rather use players from the test/ODI squad to save expenses on bringing players just for the t20s leg.

This kid debuted during Hannan sarkar's time as a 14 year old, maybe he is finally going to start living up to his potential/hype (that he was getting more tha 10 years ago).

Yup.. impressive indeed. I think Mahela is helping him big time. His batting wasnt bad last year but its even better now. He can rotate the strike well and sure have some power. Hope He can keep it consistent. For now, i would hope he replaces Dhiman so we can get a better look at his batting.

If I remember correctly, Ariful last played for Bangladesh U/19 team back in 2007. He is more likely 29 years old now.

Enough is enough.

Time to include him in T20 and ODI squad.

He is a top fielder too.

Enough is Enough.

Time to stop dreaming that the management will replace the likes of Mushfiqur, Riyad, Tamim etc. with the likes of Abu Haider, Ariful Haque etc.

Age is key, mahruf did nothing for years, neither has ariful tbf, but could be he's entering his prime in mid 20's

He needs to perform throughout BPL though, mahruf fell away last year even in BPL if I remember correctly

24 or 27 (whatever it is) is not too old to come to the national team.

We often complain that unlike Australia, we tend to bring players too early.

Then when a player flourish i little bet late, we tend to use it against him.

Age shouldn't matter for national team. if he is ready and in-form, he should get chance over off-form player. Even he have a brief 5 years career in the national team, so be it.

He looks like in-form, very comfortable and he is ready. He deserve a change in limited over game. We need to reward players like him to make local league more relevant.

Over time the quality of local league need to increase, then BCB themselved need to take the first step to make those league relevant, only then players will take it more seriously and that will help the quality.

No it was not directed to you are any one particular. Nor did I quote you. I didn't even read your post at that time. Now I read it.

If you read the thread, age was mentioned long time ago.

There were also several theads over time that age is seen as a negative when someone hits 24+.

Brilliant innings under pressure. This is what a finisher looks like

Calm head
Proper stroke play unlike Zia
And muscles unlike Nasir

Excellent batting, finished the game like proper finisher does.

Long last might’ve well found a good calm headed batsman who can finish. Carry on the good work. BD LOI can’t ignore you.

It’s not about all blazing the ball, trying to go air bound, out muscling deliveries. It’s about calculative risks, fairly attacking and taking the game deeper, while chasing. Is what he did in that innings. None of the shots would be what you would call, “lucky to get away with”. Under pressure, chasing, did it own his own.

First time I’ve seen a BD batsman in BPL, or even in any BD T20i history, chased 38 off 18 on his own.

Yap. I think he is a must in T20s. Play him in the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka.

If he carries this well, call him up for national squad. I believe he can guide the team when we collapse and if he sticks, can muscle the bowl in the end.
