Default Potential Bangladesh T20 XI if senior players weren't so stubborn...

If the likes of Mushy and Tamim weren't stubborn and gave up their spots in the T20 team I think we would have a great little group of youngsters to work with who would be groomed to do well for BD in the other formats when the senior players like Tamim and Mushy do retire.

1. Soumya
2. Anamul
3. Sabbir
4. Shakib
5. Riyad
6. Ariful Haque
7. Saifuddin
8. Mehedi Hasan
9. Abul Hasan
10. Abu Haider
11. Mustafizur

Pipeline: Zakir Hasan, Nurul Hasan, Abu Jayed, Nasir Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain

It's not about senior players. Our selectors don't have a horses for courses policy. What could the players do if selectors don't pick them? What did Shakib do when he was brought back from CPL and banned for six months? What did Mashrafe do when he was not selected for 2011 WC and most recently dropped from the t20 team? Players get upset when dropped all over the world. Sometimes they even express their frustration to the media and that's about it. We don't have a Kevin Petersen who would sabotage the team. It's our selectors who are incompetent and board who meddle with selection.

Well yeah based on averages and strike rates tamim and mushy shouldn't really be in the t20 team, if better performs come along they should be tested.

We'd prob get more out of tamim and mushy if they didn't have to worry about t20s as well, they could put more focus on the other two formats.

Come on dude. Don’t include Tamim with Mushy. Only BD player to score a T20I ton, and check his T20I stats last 2-3 years. You seriously think Tamim isn’t worth a place in BD t20i side? Or Short time memory loss bruh?

Tamim Iqbal, is a threat a big dangerman in the eyes of any international sides when BD plays. Everyone knows his ability and capabilities, and the vast experience he has. He adds so much to the top. And you want to take him off because Mushy one of the senior is stubborn and has a pathetic t20 international record?.

Since when Soumya sarkar has become much loved in T20i? Look at his BPL stats. Yes his T20i stats last couple years been good, but a lot of times he gets starts but fails to carry on, he’s got 3 or 4 late 40s which he should’ve easily made least 60-80 or more. He gets out softly despite being well set. More Time and experience will improve that, no doubt. Overall he is a pick for me too but not the expense of Tamim as tamim is irreplaceable in Bangladesh, for now till 2019 WC (till further review).

I think I have seen these threads, more than I have seen my grandparents.

Can we have like a potential BD XI thread. Just saying it would be more convenient, No disrespect to the thread creator intended.

What is the logic behind choosing Souyma and Anamul. Maybe Anamul is a bit logical but Souyma lately has been a hack, and I doubt has the capabilities to take over from Tamim.

Tamim has done well in T20s of late.. remove Abul get Tamim in.. we have enough bowlers without Abul.

Age is catching up Tamim?

He used to be more attacking which is more suitable for T20. Now a days he use his attacking batting style only in TEST innings.

Tell me this is a reverse psychology thread.

Is age not catching up Mushfique? He is still the world best wicket keeper behind the stumps.

Don't agree about Tamim. His T20 record is one of the best among our batsman in the past couple years.

This would be my choice.

Tamim
Soumya
Anamul (wk)
Shakib (c)
Riyad
Sabbir
Ariful
Saifuddin
Miraz
Abu Haider
Mustafizur

Tamim's T20 stat may be better than Imrul (for example) and some other older players, but notimg spectacular. T20 average 23.27 and SR 115. New players deserve some opportunity to see how good they are. Few tries before, are not far from Tamim in those two categies. Example Anamul ( 32.27 and SR 111), SS (20.53 and SR 128).

Tamim
Soumya
Anamul
Shakib
Riad
Sabbir
Ariful
Saifuddin
Miraz
Fizz
Rahi/Rony

Bench: Rubel, Taijul, Mushy

Good XI. The muscle is there in 6 7 8

And shakib Riyad the grafters at 4/5. Anamul is a must have in T20. Tamim too.

Fielding wise team is good no. Imrul liability in the field

Only senior to miss out is mushy who somehow finds it difficult to do well in national colors but best batsmen in BPL

Tamim was not that good in T20s before but he has improved his game really well past couple of years. Average of 27.77 and SR of 130.54 is really good in our standards.

Current senior players:
Tamim: Ave 23.27, SR 115
Mushfiq's average (16) is much lower than Tamim, but similar SR (113)
Sakib have similar average (23) but better SR (121)
Riyad has lower average (19.92) but same SR (115)
mashrafee: Ave 13.46 (low) , SR 136 (good)
Imrul: Ave 9, SR 88

Past players dropped prematurely?
S Nafeez: Average 25, SR 147
Jahirul: Average 10, SR 134
Junaid: Average 22.7, SR 147

New players are our future:
Mominul: Average 20, SR 120 (Not bad)
SS: Average 20.53, SR 128
Anamul: Average 32.27, SR 117
Sabbir: Average 27.59 and SR 127
Safuddin: Average 34, SR 117
Mosaddek: Average 19.8, SR 108 (low for now)
Nasir: Ave 18.53, SR 113

Ariful Haque: yet to start.

.... the next in line
.... the next in line

if you ask me, the current young players and newer players who yet to wet their feet in National Team are our only hope for T20 success. The older players served the country in the past based on their capability. I think its time to say "Thank you for your service and good-by" to some of them atleast in T20.

^^ Abu Jayed is new ball swing bowler, Abul is line-length death over bowler - different roles.

Jayed is better comparable with AH Rony.

The squad based on current and/or recent performance should be,

Tamim
Imrul
Anamul
Riyad
Shabbir
Ariful
Shakib
Saifuddin
Abu Jayed
Abu Hider
Fizz

Extras: Mominul, Miraz, Zakir
Tamim makes it because of the quality he has. Unmatched with any other batsmen in the country. Shakib makes it for bowling only and Fizz doesnt need to BPL to prove he is the no.1 T20 bowler in the country.

Unfair comparison because our seniors played a lot of T20s in their teens with little experience and strategy.

I think recent performance will paint a better picture.

This would be my lineup and probably the best according to me:

Tamim
Shoumya
Anamul
Riyad
Ariful
Shakib
Saifuddin
Miraz
Abu Jayed
Rubel (OR Abu Hider depending on game plan)
Fizz

That gives you 6 proper bowling option and batting till Miraz.

Our T20I batting stats for last three years: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...s;type=batting

Tamim, Soumya, Sabbir, Shakib, Riyad, and Fizz are pretty much default choices.

1. Our junior players right now playing with our seniors in BPL against same opponents and same field and still some of them are outshining the seniors.

2. Our seniors developed over time with experience ( rather than just age) and some of them are dropping from their cliff. Same should be expected from our juniors, they will perform even better over more experience and today they are not even close to their pick.

True the comparison is unfair, because its unfair to the juniors. So just add few more points to their (junior) stat for comparison.

So I stand by my original comment: We should go with the junior for better future.

btw by Junior, I meant Junior by experience, not necessarily by age.

Shakib-among the highest wicket takers
Mushy- bad tournament but starting to do well. Good with gloves better than Litton so far(and I am a fan of Litton's keeping)
Tamim has played only 2 matches. Didn't do well but understandable
Riad- brilliant with the bat. Futile to even argue
Imrul- 2nd highest run scorer so...

Okay let's look at the batsmen
Sabbir- failed initially but took off recently
Soumya- utter garbage. His SR in BPL is below 100 and the worst part is he has a SR of less than 100 despite batting for quite some time.
Litton lol
Mosaddek- absolute rubbish with bat
Miraz - poor with bat
Shanto- woeful. Just woeful

So I don't see where you found that our seniors are being outshined

Even in last BPL riad mushy Tamim were brilliant, Shakib did okay.

The reality is even in international cricket our seniors have carried the weight of the team. Riad failed in tests and he was dropped. Mushy too will be dropped in T20Is

Mash should retire after next world Cup.

I believe seniors are doing well. And there are potentials among youths but they got to show it first. I believe in performance in front of me. And yes I follow BPL quite religiously. I have watched almost every ball and I can tell you the seniors have been better than we think
