Default Mustafiz Pace Watch

Since he bowls so many cutters, average pace becomes a poor marker. I'll just track his fastest ball according to ICC hawkeye and I will keep updating this post (the OP) up till the end of the 2019 World Cup:

Tri-series ODI 1 (vs ZIM): 133.9 kph
Tri-series ODI 2 (vs SL): 134.7 (wicket)

Let's all watch Al Furqaan achieve his climax.

I am really interested in this thread. Those who don't like can kiss Al's (WILD Imagination).

When it touches 142; I'd be climaxing too.

Fizz is the type of bowler who doesn't need to bowl 150. With his smarts and his variations him bowling arouond 140 is plenty of pace. He is by far the most enjoyable-to-watch fast bowler BD has produced (always thought it would have been Shahadat or Taskin). But Fizz has a beautiful classical action (a bit like Amir's but not quite) and when he gets his line and length right, its marvelous to watch him think.

When he gets to 140 comfortably like he was in the Aussie Test series, you know he's fully fit.

Last game I noticed Fizz was bowling against Zimb much closer to the stumps like he used to during his prime. He was almost unplayable like he used to be with so many balls so close to the bat for a nick.

If he can learn to bowl the in-swinger with the new ball, he can be even more dangerous.

^^ You mean to bring it back to a right hander? It will be difficult to do from angle/line he bowls at.

I actually like Rony better in this regard, he attacked stumps more often during BPL with a good variation of angle and line.

Probably that's why he doesn't try it. I heard before the SA series that he was working on it with Walsh. I remember he got a wicket against Zimbabwe in 2015 by bringing the ball back in, it was probably Chamu Chibhabha's wicket.

Is this speed gun accurate?

Rubel normally bowls in the range of 135-140, Lakmal is a 130-135. But here both of them are bowling at least 5-10 kph slower as per the readings.

Even Kyle Jarvis's speed is around 125 as per this speed gun, which is hard to believe.

that wicket seems to be a cutter. it was bowled close to 135. I think he is slowly gaining pace and confidence.

So it looks like he is slowly regaining his health... he no longer need a pace maker.

U-19 Hasan bowls 130+ at will. He has more control than Sharapova and Bananaskin put together.

What was Fizz's top speed today?

Mustafizur has one of the prettiest actions to watch. Taksin has one of the ugliest in world cricket. Weird comparison.

(just aesthetics-wise, nothing to do with pace, swing etc.)

His cutters are more effective when the seam is softer, thus he gets the ball later.
