Razzak changed his performance from last 2 years , at this moment, without sakib... I don’t mind. What selectors will do when your new bees r *****. So adulty is the solution. People say, puran chaal vhate bare... so I guess it’s a good move... razzak might show some unfinished love, which he couldn’t do his young age.
He will play his heart out for sure ... also he took 40 wickets in last 11 matches, also being 3 times highest wicket taker in national league.... so ya he deserves it.
Good luck to him.... my predictions... srilanka will be hammered by Bd in test series.

Also it’s not the age we r looking for , we want test 2-0 in bds favor.... this is the only way Bd will be forgiven for their final mistakes.
Naim, Miraz, razzzk , fizz will trash srilanka..
Tamim, musfiq, Riad will do their job this time.

I am not as confident as you are bro.

I think you can expect a lot of short stuff from Sri Lanka. Hathurusingha will exploit every possible weakness. And when you add Herath and the experienced Dilruwan to the mix its quite a difficult attack to face up to.

our batting lineup might be decent, but we'll only have 2 decent bowlers in 1st test.

hard to win a test with an attack like that.

razzak selection is hard to believe. it's like an april fools joke.

I doubt Razzak has the fitness to play international cricket. He was a weak link even when he was a regular in the team and all of this time outside the team must not have been kind to him.

abdur razzaq

his last 4 match performances (bowling and wkt)

6/107, 1/175
4/152
6/178, 3/41
1/43, 2/89

performance wise its good. i dont think anyone has better performance than him in last 4 FC matches. he was proven as an ODI performer, nothing else to prove.

recently he took his 500 wkt

except age, everything is in his favor

nayeem hasan is in the squad. whats his qualifications to be in the test team? except he is 17 yrs old, who played only 4 FC match and got 9 wkt all together.

i dont want to bash razzaq, rather i will congratulate selector for selecting razzaq. only in BC cricket age is a serious issue..

now raina is coming back in indian T20 team. even though india has better player pool than us. if he is bangladeshi, once he is out, his door would be shut down forever, which is not fair anyway. nehra came back and gave great performances
so is hafeez, shoib malik, misbah, herath, tharanga, etc.

if the player is in form and performs, i think they should get chance. To improve our fragile batting--i think tushar and nayeem islam should get chance too

i hope razzaq performs...

it's not razzak's age..its his record of performing in domestics and then returning zero in international longer version games.

he had even better last 4 matches when he played for BD(in tests) last time. he is the bowling equivalent of tushar imran in tests

i know our domestic and international has big differences.

Some of our star performer didn't come from domestic league but they are highly successful in international cricket. Before they got selected, some of them dont have even single noticeable performances

tamim
shakib
mushfiq
mashrafi
mustafiz
riad
miraz (promoted from u19 team)
(i think they played very few matches before international debut)

then sabbir
soumya
taskin
anamul
jubayer
ashraful
kapali
enam jr
nasir
talha
shahadat
syed rasel
aftab
shahariar nafees
nafis iqbal

(some of them didnt perform much in domestic before debut, but performed well in international and then lost touch again, some of them are called failed/discarded now)

then
naeem islam
tushar imaran
shamsur rahman shuvo
marshall ayub
farhad hossain (never get national call)
imrul kayes. (still lucky to be part of national team)
saqlain sajib (he is very reliable performer but didnt get national call yet)
shuvagoto hom
abdur razzaq
imtiaz hossain
faisal hossain
ehsanul huq sejan
jahurul islam Omi
rajin saleh
mohammad sharif
habibul bashar (very successful)
Mohammad rafiq (V successful)

Some of these guys performed so well in domestic, that brings them in national team. some faded away, some lost form, some unfortunately dropped from national team (example--naeem islam) but these guys performed after they dropped from national team. may be they were not ready ,when they get selection.

when tushar imran, rajin saleh was selected in national team--they were not proven, no good performances to justify their selection. they got selection in national team just because they were young and have potential, they didnt perform as expected, so they are dropped out. but when they start performing consistently, they never get second chances then.

my argument is--- when players are in form and show consistency year after year. they deserve chances again and format should be correct too. if someone performs in longer version, select them in that format, dont select them in ODI or t20 , thats kind of wasting talent..

i dont post much except fantasy league, any criticism welcome (both positive and negative)

Here' the thing - Abdur Razzak was never a decent test bowler even in his prime. What makes the selectors think he would be any better now? If it was the ODI or T20 squad, I would have understood.

It is good to see BCB is resorting to young talents as well as experience but they need to keep in mind this is not the solution to the actual problem. We all know what is necessary to fix the limitations.

1. Lack of professionalism - increase professionalism among not only cricketers but officials - arrange short courses/workshop.
2. Not learning from mistakes - proving again and again history repeats iteself, go back to video tapes, mark down the blind spots.
3. Restore Nirman School Cricket, emphasize University Championships (both Public/Private), start College Cricket if possible.
4. Like many members said, create at least 1 BKSP in every divisional cities, change the name from BKSP to DKSP, CKSP, SKSP etc.
5. Make the planned stadiums happen - from next international match diversify to Dhaka/Chittagong/Khulna/Sylhet
6. Nurture variations - that is nurture players of different talents and provide facilities with care and restore discipline in fitness, practice hours, attendance and commitment - make those basic sports requirements mandatory

I think we can add few more necessities, it will not cross 10 total (as I mentioned in an earlier post). Altogether if we need to take recess from some formats for couple of years to get this established that will be OK. But we want to comeback strong. No more sissy cricket please.

Is haturu adding fuel to fire?

Quote:

He described the situation as setting ‘the cat loose among the pigeons’; a scene of chaos. Chandika believes that picking so many spinners was the effect of losing key player Shakib Al Hasan and trying to think of ways to make up for his absence.

No chance for Nayok Raj, as per PA. One from Sunzamul and Taijul will be chosen along side Miraz, Fizz, and Tanbir.
