Common sense is supposed to be...common. Etar jonno-o coach hire korte hobe?

I still think Sabbir was selected purely for fielding, as the 12th man, for slip. That makes sense.

The papers might be purely speculating and getting it wrong. Otherwise, makes no sense.

Another possibility: Sujon is using this to motivate Mosaddek.

One can only hope.

Sabbir is no better at slips than imrul, at least off the spinners. Sabbir is a good fielder inside the ring (gully, point, cover) but so are many of the young guys (Miraz, Nasir, Musa). IMO, catching positions need specialists (specialist slipsmen, specialist bat pads) and I think the major sides do. If you notice ours we have no specialists and it doesn't really matter because they are all equally mediocre.

Even when our guys take a slip or bat pad catch, they usually juggle it and don't take it cleanly, often even with regulation catches.

Kusal Mendis taking that catch of Mushy was the type of catch we aren't capable of...pure instinct grab, one handed, inches off the turf. Williamson, Kohli, Rahane, are terrific in the slip and gully regions. They take blinders on a routine basis.

Part of the problem is that we have only started producing bowlers (Mustafiz, Miraz, Taijul) who can consistently produce those types of chances. Because those chances never came before, our fielders have never had practice in trying to catch them.

Hom was good at slip. Literally the only good slip fielder BD has.

But surely Sabbir is better than Imrul.

If we needed a slip fielder could have just chosen Hom, I remember in that Eng test we won he took a few at slip while Kayes and Riyad were bumbling a bunch
