I gurantee this tournament has more upsets to come. Afghanistan may still qualify as their net run rate is just barely below 0. It will come down to the final round of games and net run rates to decide the finalists for sure.

Mujeeb was handed out a 50 percent fine and three demerit points for throwing the ball back at batsman Taylor off his own bowling during the first innings in what the umpires deemed a dangerous manner.
Quote:
Upset with himself, Shahzad slammed his bat hard onto the adjacent pitch, leaving behind a noticeable divot as a result. As this was Shahzad's second breach of the ICC's code of conduct within a two-year period - he was fined the whole of his match fee and handed three demerit points after a T20I against UAE in December 2016 - the accumulated four demerit points, as per the ICC's norms, translated into two suspension points.
What is wrong with these arrogant Afghans?

Nabi is Afg's equivalent to Shakib, I wonder how would shakib react if captaincy was given to miraz(comparing to nabi when captaincy is given to rashid).

Well Afghan seems to be dead and buried in this game. I think giving Rashid Khan captaincy was similar to when BD gave Ashraful the captaincy

lol I said this when Afg beat WI in the warm up match. I had a feeling that Afg will crash and burn beeing the fevs. lol my feeling didn't tell me that Afg wont even make it to the super six.

looks like afg has a habit of crashing when the pressure is on them to do well. before the T20 wc 2014 there were lot of talks about Afg beating us and going to the 2nd round. lost horribly in that match. lot of buzz around them in 2015 wc too. lost against us and all the big teams comprehensively and beat scotland by just one wicket

there wasn't much buzz around them in 2016 T20 WC because of the last two failed WC, and Afg did well in that WC

“Afghanistan better than Bangladesh”, “Afghanistan should be in WC except BD”, “Afg deserves to play ahead of BD”

I wouldn't rule out Afghanistan, it could be possible that Nepal beats HongKong but loses all other matches. I.e. Afg beats Nepal (HK loses to Zim). This actually seems like a very likely situation.

Would mean the best NRR among Nepal, Afg and HK will go through. This will still be tight.

Even if Afghanistan win the 2023 World Cup. That option isn’t still the WRONG option AT THIS POINT IN TIME. there is As much evidence for Afghanistan winning a World Cup before us as there is of Bangladesh winning back to back cups before India. Both are equally unprovable.

Holly $H*t... Afghans are out!! Goes on to show just having a couple of good players without a proper game plan is not enough to win games. Wonder how this will impact young captain rashid. Hope it doesn't effect his performance as a bowler.

AFG runrate is still OK in comparison to HK and Nepal

Way for AFG to qualify:-

1. Beat Nepal in their last match
2. Hope Zim and Nepal both beat HK with nepal not wining by a big margin.

then Afg will qualify for the super six based on RR.

Even if Afg qualifies for the super six the road to WC wont be easy for them. They will start with 0 points in super six with Scotland/Zim starting with 4 and 2(will depend on Zim vs Sco match), 2 teams from the other group will also start with 4 and 2. Most likely WI will start with 4.

So for Afg if they make it to the super six by miracle, They need to win all the matches in the super six to qualify for the WC. one of those matches will be vs WI.

you or I will not live to see BD win a World cup unless we brake the human longevity record(which is 122 years 164 days as of now). on other hand we might see a afg wc win. bookmark this post. we'll debate in afterlife

Rashid only got captaincy because the previous captain Ashar Stanizi(?) is injured. Rashid didn't take it away from Nabi.
