Default Selectors Recall for Soumya and Kayes for Afg match

Soumya and Kayes has been recalled.

Quote:
Both of them have been asked to return back to Dhaka and board a flight to UAE tomorrow. The duo was participating in a four-day game in Khulna played between Bangladesh Red and Bangladesh Green.

It is understood that the unfortunate injury to Tamim Iqbal and the inability of the openers Liton Kumar Das and Nazmul Hossain to provide good starts in the ongoing Asia Cup had forced the selectors to pick the seasoned campaigners.

Default Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes called in for Bangladesh's Asia Cup squad,

Quote:
Batsmen Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes have been added to Bangladesh's Asia Cup squad, which has suffered a spate of injuries. The additions were announced after Bangladesh were bowled out for 173 against India; a second batting debacle following their 136-run loss to Afghanistan on Thursday.

Bangladesh's leading batsmen have suffered setbacks: Tamim Iqbal fractured his wrist against Sri Lanka and is out of the tournament, while Shakib Al Hasan (finger) and Mushfiqur Rahim (rib) have been playing despite injuries. The bigger worry, however, has been the poor form of the younger batsmen.

Could be a blessing in disguise.

Were both of them batting in the middle when they received the call?

Why the lools?
Das and Shanto will not make 50 combined average next two matches given the chances. Not suited/ready for international cricket ODI. Sarkar and Imrul add years of experience, Sarkar has shown us class, he is capable of it, Kayes too has played some good knocks. Key here is experience at the top. Both current openers simply not fit for int ODI in any tournaments.

The thing is, can Soumya survive 1 over against Mujib or Rashid? Kayes might, but he will have to survive lots of edges as well. Anyway, it's like debating who is worse.

BTW, what an unprofessionalism. Calling players from the middle of a match and asking them to bat in the heat and humidity of Dubai

Liton Shanto Mossadek should get the kick in the backside from the team!

Mithun is no good either. He might have fluked his way to a 50 against SL, but now watch him sleep for the rest of the tournament.

It depends on their mindset. I love Kayes, but last time he was called in mid world cup, he failed. And probably because he was not ready.

But yes, this sudden calling of players mid tourney means grave selection errors! So then, what is the problem that we have? Are we playing ludo while the others are playing chess?

Say somehow Soummya gets back his mojo and does another scintillating batting display next match.
Are we ready to take him permanently for World Cup?
