Challenging Time, 04-09-18, featuring Mohammad Mithun!

I hope Mithun plays in place of Litton. I just don't think Litton will work out.
Contrary to most other opinions I would play Ariful at no.7 and prefer Mithun to play in opening position. Although recently Mithun has played great in finishing role in A teams and domestic, he is still a genuine top order batsman.
Whatever, best of luck to both Mithun and Litton in the upcoming asia cup

Best of Luck Bangladesh

There is zero chance for Mithun to open. What will happen,

Game 1 Sep 15 - Mithun slotted in at number 6 against Lanka
Game 2 Sep 20 - Based on his performance either he will be switched with Ariful or if Mosaddek performs poorer Ariful will get in along with Mithun against AFG

I know. I was just stating my preference.

I dont understand Mossadek's position in the team. He seems to be a Nasir replacement, but the guy cant slog and is not given many overs.

That Ariful guy was supposed to be a good hitter of the ball coming lower down the order but he too didnt show much promise either.

So wondering who BCB might use in that lower middle order slot

Riad is a good contender of that but more often than not, he comes in to rebuild the innings. That doesn't help

If I could play both I would play both at 2-3. Drop Shakib everyone one notch down. (EVEN after so many failures by Sarkar)

Shakib is only 20-30% fit.

So they want shakib to play but he’s barely fit. I guess the WC means nothing, better to have him for the Asia cup, make the injury worse, have him out longer and destroy any WC chances. That’s common sense.

If shanto is injured that’s disappointing, hopefully he’ll be fit for duty after the Asia cup.

Nothing reported on Cricinfo. Don't know how serious it is

I don't understand these selectors. Af if they all have a doctor degree in medicine and practices medicine. If the player is injured, common sense would be to rest him and get him to do his surgery, regardless of how big/small player he is. Even the guy himself is saying that he is out of match practice and don't know what will happen during the match.

its hard to know what is the truth. From a previous interview Shakib said he is fine. There is pain but its similar to what he has been experiencing for a while now. He said he was planning to play the Asia cup with injection which he did for the whole windies tour and IPL and he is planning to head for surgery right after the tournament.

cant find the article now.. but it doesnt seem to me that the squad was announced without Shakibs personal consent.

^ neither does IND/PAK. Its like Ind V Pak V IND/PAK 2.0. However if Nepal did qualify, quite a bunch of us would actually gave some care to it.

Kind of feel sorry for some of those "uncles" as I heard they just play for the team like one would for a club and dont get benefits like the citizens.

I always found it weird that the UAE had interests in cricket. I assumed some element was to give a platform to gambling with Pakistanis and Indians involved.

Yes, they don't have citizenship and have to work along with cricket thats why they are so unfit and can't run more than one run. HK have a youth with only 1 or 2 players older than 30 as opposed to UAE who have got only 1 or 2 players younger than 30

Confusion over Shakib Al Hasan's fitness for the Asia Cup

The BCB has been put in an "awkward and embarrassing" position by the confusion around Shakib Al Hasan's fitness for the Asia Cup. Board director Jalal Yunus said Shakib should have informed the board rather than the media that he feels he is "20-30% fit" for the tournament that begins on September 15 in the UAE.

Lengthy quote by the coach and captain.
