Grameen Bank gives beggars phones instead of cash
Its a old news. But I thought its worthwhile to mention here.
"Grameen Bank, famous for pioneering micro-credit programs in Bangladesh, has launched a new idea to empower the poor: arming beggars with mobile phones so they can sell a roving service for cash."

I am not sure its going to work. But I have to admit, very innovative idea.
At least they are trying to solve problems with a very different and unconventional approach.

Is this some kind of a prank or is it a real news! Does nayone have any Bangladeshi newspaper to validate this?

Fazal;
thanks for putting the links. Sometimes, I wonder what Grameen Bank is really trying to achieve. If this was another of Dr. Yunus' idea of cell phone for economic emancipation, then it reminds me of "gorur rochona". If you grew up in Bangladesh you'll know what I mean't by "gorur rochona".

 it's a great idea I think. Now beggars will come in touch of modern electronic technology.
