We got to Improve

Watching last 2 tournaments Bangladesh playing Asia Cup and ICC Trophy we are performing really worse after West Indies series. Mainly due to our batsman get nervous and start panicking, losing early wicket with in first 10 overs, when this happens this puts pressure to whole team and lower order batsman, and lower order batsman start to collapse.

We can not play game like this, game after game same result. Things need to be change and it’s got to change now. We have lot more cricket coming up this year and next year.

So what can we do? What is the solution to our on going big problem?

All area of the game needed to improve, particularly batting. The first priority is to find some good bats man. (Get our batsman together and improve the batting)


Batting Department.

- Learn to be really calm, not to panic, not to worry about run rate first 10-12 overs
- First 10-12 over make sure bats man don’t get him self out playing silly shot.
- The ball will not have same pace or swing after 10-12 overs. After bats man got settled run will come.
- Wicket is really important make sure keep wicket in hand, (keep in mind while playing the game)
- Initial spell if ball is swinging and bouncing always play forward, so that you are not letting ball to swing away much, before you hit the ball.
- Again First 10-12 overs do not go aerial unless you are sure where you hitting the bowl.

Bowling Department.

When is the last time we seen our bowler knocking the stamp out. We need to bowl more like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Brett Lee. We can not depend on fielder to catch out every batsman. Time to time we need to aim for the stamp.

- Do not bowl same bowl every time, unless it’s really really good bowl. Try different bowl, lets the batsman keep thinking all the time what’s coming next.

- Learn how to do good bouncer

- Use more than 5 bowler most of the time we only use 5 bowler. Some time part time bowler can do more damage then regular bowler.



Fielding Department

- Our fielder needed to be active all the time.
- Taking every opportunity comes along; missing the catch can make the difference between winning and loosing.


I hope Bangladesh cricket take some notice from above, and improve the game, that will save us from so many disappointing days. I wish all the best…..

I agree with all of your points.
But the problem is, all of them forget everything, when they are on the field.
They should take a look of these points and try again and again to master it.

Welcome to this forum mij.
I want to add the following points to your "Fielding Department":

- For fielders closer and around the batsman (slips, silly mid-on etc.): Take the right posture with both the hands together ready for taking the catch and bending the knees to be able to drive to either side. Look straight to the bat, becuase the ball will be coming from there only. Concentrate when the bowler starts his run-up to bowl. Lowering the body by bending the knees also helps to get low flight catches, which comes within a blink of an eye.
- For fielders away from the batsman: Take the right position as advised by the captain (or bowler) and go two/three steps back and start moving towards the batsman slowly when the bowler approaches the pitch to deliver the ball. Keep sharp eyes on the bat. Moving towards the batsmen helps to overcome the lagging time for getting motion from standing still.

These two tips are being followed by every top teams, which I found lacking for many of our fielders being the main reason for misfield and drop-catches.

I agree wid u but the problem is with the openning batsmen of bangladesh team. They don't try to play silly shots. They r giving lollypop catches in the slip just to defend the ball out side the off stump. All Bd bats men have got same problem to play out swinger. How they will stay at the wicket for long time?? Forget about playing silly shots first. They have to learn how to defend or negotiate the ball out side the off stump. May be they have got sight problems!!!! They r not watching balls properly.

Useful comment you made. We need to avoid some ball and negotiate with bowler time to time. Because there is always grass is green other side of the field.

Our Batsman having problem with bouncing bowl, the height of the ball reaches our batsman they don’t like it at all, so why not improve in that part as well. Life is always hard; nothing comes easy in life, you have to make it look easy. Cricket is all about having confidence. It’s seems like all our player give up even before the game is over. We need to hang on and believe in our self.
