Default National swimming starts with new records

Four national records have been set up in the Keya Cosmetics 20th National Swimming that began at the Army Swimming Complex on Tuesday. SAF gold medallists Rubel Rana set the first record in the 200 metre individual medley clocking 2:15:17 seconds. In the same event of female group, Dolly Akhter set the second record of the day. She took 2:49:39 seconds. The third event of the day, 200 metre men’s butterfly, also saw a national record when Jewel Ahmed crossed the distance in 2:12:02sec. Laboni Akther and Kazi Monirul Islam won the next two events, 200 metre butterfly (women) and 400 meter freestyle (men), but failed make any mark. The record bonanza, however, returned with the controversial swimmer Sabura Khatun finishing in 5:25:57sec in the last event of 400m freestyle (women).
