The list of probable players in the Cricinfo report includes 3 spinners Rafique-Rana-Enamul, and only one pacer Tapash. Are we going to use a spinner as an openning bowler? Or Criconfo listed Alok instead of Mushfiq Babu?
I am praying the match will be taken to the 5th day, a face-saving loss. A drawn match will be a miracle. My pick of the batters are Rajin and Ashraful, and bowlers Enamul.

Hello to all my fellow ardent Bangladesh cricket fans! this is my first message in this site....
I am as excited as everyone else about this second test. although the threat of a debacle is very imminent i am starting this match like every other match...with hopes of a great Bdesh performance.
According to the reports in Prothom Alo Bdesh is going with only two specialist spinners, Enamul Haq and Mohammed Rafique. Although Manzarul Islam performed admirably I think the team think tank made the right decision. Enamul Haq is a specialist spinner and would surely be able to exploit the conditions better than Manzarul. I also feel Mushfiq should be the second pacer to open the bowling alongside Tapash. The requirement of the pacers in our attack is more a containing job, and Mushfiq has shown himself adept at least at maintaining a tight line and not spraying the ball around unlike some one like Tareq Aziz.We also need Tapash to pull his weight as our front line paceman and get some early breakthroughs for a change...
I for one am backing Alok Kapali to perform in this match(if selected of course). There has been a shower of criticism hurled at Alok after the last test , some of them quite deservedly. But to me Alok is still among the countries top 6 batsmen and one of the few batsmen who look at ease against any bowling. Maybe its about time when we stop vilifying one of our own and give them some encouragement instead. The current team is way too inexperienced at test level but I think the current batting line up would definitely form the core of our team for years to come. Wishing our young debutant Aftab and Bdesh best of luck! Here's the team I would want to see today...
Javed Omar
Nafis Iqbal
Rajin Saleh
Mohammed Ashraful
Aftab Ahmed
Alok Kapali
Khaled Mashud
Mushfiqur Rahman
Mohammed Rafique
Tapash Baisya
Enamul Haq

personally, i think its not a good idea to take out rana on every other occation. but, since there are only two alternative of playing rana in this match:
1) not playing enamul
2) opening bowling with a spinner.
i don't know much about the wicket, but after all the readings, i kind of figured out that enamul should play, but this decision can only be justified after the game. so, i'll leave that up the the selectors. dont know how good spinner enamul is comparing rana, but this is for sure that rana can bat better than enamul (better than most batsman in our team actually).
option two, open ball with a spinner. i kind of liked the idea IFF (a big if and only if) one of our 3 spinner can spin with new ball. don't know who is capable of doing that. if there is any, i'd definately leave out mushfiq for rana, keeping in mind that mushfiq has batted well below terrible in past days. but if there is no new ball spinner, we dont have an option but to leave out rana. damn, we needed only one more from the whole list below:
masri
sharif
talha
nazmul
what do u guys think about shahadat? should we have give him a chance in this crisis of pacers?

wel.. H_fan.. Rajin was probably given out caught behind wrongly in this match.. he was probably not out.
|
That wrongfully given out just prevented any scope to expose his chopra-itis syndrom, cuz he was way behind being in forties, and I don't think H_fan was mentioning about the 2nd innings.
|
I think we need a Chopra so that at least one of the openers will stay out there for a long time. even if they dont score many runs, just stay there.
