Default Bangladesh is BACK!!

yess... without any doubt I will say that in full voice.. that the team is back with high self-belief already!!

One bigg innings by Ashraful (2nd test) completely dominating the Indian bowling, and the whole team has started to find themselves back!
They seemed to have forgotten the precedent of ‘12/3’ –kind of batting. Almost all the batsmen had fought back and stayed at the pitch for good time.

The game might hav been slow in the middle... but isn’t it long long time that Bangladesh had scored 230+??... and with such smashing real slog overs!
I wonder what would have happened if India had not been given too many (45) runs in their last 5 overs of the match!!

True that Rafiq/Nafees/Ash’s success would hav set the team on fire.. but yet again... the teams confidence really seems to be pretty high n going only higher every game!!

Thank GOD... BD seems to be pulling itself out of the prolonged & humiliating bad patch !!

comon everyone.. lets not be upset that we lost.. lets just giv the team a big hand!!
CHEERS!!

Big things in this match IMO:

**Great bowling upto 45 overs!!.. Indians never were on top till then!
**Much much.. much better n confident show in first 15 overs by BD!!
**Bashar's responsible knock!!
**Aftab the dependable! (though got out stupidly)
**WICKETS DIN'T FALL IN PAIRS!!
**Number of good partnarships!!
**And ofcourse... PILOT the great!!
**Finally..234/8 in such a pitch....really feels so good after long time!!

Captain should make sure that the best bowler of the day bowls his full quota.

Usually Pilot is great, it wasn't anything special of this match. We have bowled well upto 45 over in many matches before, so nothing special here.

and wow!! 9 out of 52 balls from Nafees, great batting for chasing a big total of 246.

These 234/8, and "small margin" will always be a comfortable, but the ultimate achievement is equal to 134/8 and 111 run defeat. Did Bangladesh ever looked likely to WIN the match when batting? They just played for personal goals. The late burst was worth nothing, the match was already over. It only gave the crowd something to cheer and some "feel good" BS like this.

PLEASE BE REALISTIC WHEN YOU EVALUATE PERFORMANCE. This match wasn't a very bad one BD, but also nowhere near good. A very ordinary performance, which can only look good when compared to terrible ones. And do I have to remind everyonethat this was a very experimental 11 from India?

I'm having doubts if u really watched the game live or just were reading the commentary.. because u called Pilot's smashing 39 ball 50 as 'nothing special'..

By the way.. Losing to a team like India is not of big shame.. us fans need to learn to accept deserved defeats.

Considering BD's recent performance of the past 1 year or so.. Today they played a much improved game..

I think I am really being realistic by appriciationg all those the improvement very positively !! I would be 'over-demanding' and 'unrealistic' if i had said that "BD lost a won-match.." or "gave away their victory".. bla bla

If u r realistic.. u hav to know what ur actual level is.. and judge ur achievements accordingly.. not measure youreslf in a scale which u dont belong to.

and trust me.. BD teams current level is 'Developiong' and not 'Developed' already!

comon man.. cheer up! We will do just fine in time!

I agree with u horizon......

we should appreciate it. Just think if we can fight all the rest of the matches …after that where our confidence level will be ....

ahhh I am hungry for Zim

GO Bangladesh

this match can be called as a type of victory for bd.

even full strength zimbabwe team, threw similar performances against ind in the vb series earlier this year by scoring runs slowly at the start, scoring quickly in the last 10 overs and losing by 10-20 runs.

it look as if full strength bd = full strength zim in odis. also, bd lost only 1-2 to a full strength zim team in odis and all 3 matches were found to be close matches.

bd, even threw competetive matches against nz, getting them all out for 223 and the bowling was great, however bd batting sucked

"Back" - wrong choice of word. We were never "there"

But, we will be. If nothing else this tour has been an eyeopener for us. I think its beginningto take a clear shape what this team needs and how we can get there.

That self-realization is an almost impossible hill to climb for a blind perennial loser.

morale victory, eh?

The things that we should not overlook and try to improve upon are:

*Bashar is still not scoring runs in tests and he is still dropping catches - the dropping of catches is a mental thing, which can be worked upon

*Nafees Iqbal's batting was OK, if our guess is right that the instruction on him was to stay in the wicket no matter the cost; however, his fielding is not like Ashraful or Rajin Saleh; when you see a 20 year old kid has just come into the side, but not giving his all in the fielding department, then there's a worrying issue for you

*We're still giving away way too many runs in the last 5 to 10 overs

*Things like Pilot keeping up to Sujon - we have to be careful on that

*Rajin's form is still a matter of concern; he wasn't even playing the sweep shot off spinners properly!

*Mushfique's bowling is starting to become annoying; he used to be pretty decent

Already 6 points! If I can figure out 6 areas needing improvement, then just imagine what Dav would identify how many areas for improvement?

FW - your issues are strategic items, not tactical ! So it has nothing to do with judging the game !!

This match becoming something like a glass half-filled with water??

yes.. half the glass is still empty... but also... half of it really is not!
better than an all-empty glass really!

whoever watched the game today... will surely be aware of confidence the team had today thoughout the whole match!
and about others... well... I'm not sure how to let them know..

"Confidence" is the key word - something the scorecard readers won't understand. It was a different BD team.

I just read some nonsense at the Telegraph (will post it soon), about the usual, "why Zimbabwe and Bangladesh" should'nt be in test. So bear with me as I am a bit charged up.
Anyway, the timing could'nt have been better. We really need to up the tempo as all the jackals are gathering around the den. These journalists are so elitist. It is unbelievable.

We need to get back that feeling we had after the Australia tour. That is, the momentum upwards. Whether it is the next match or not , i think the psychological battle has to be keenly monitored.

After a long time, BD played like they shud last night. And addition to that, our captain played a real matured innings. Yes Nafis wasted too many balls and too many runs were given away in last 3 overs caused us the game. But the goal was not to win like Sumon said, its reducing the gap of the defeat. This will give a tremendous confidence to the players for the future games.

GO BD.

I personally think that in this match Bd played a good game. But still there are questions yet to be solved

1. While the partnership between Kaif and Dravid was growing Basher should try at least 1/2 overs with part-time bowlers like Ash and Rajin.

2. The loppa catch missed by Basher of Kaif when he was on his 50+

3. Basher should let nazmul finish all his 10 overs (as he is main striking bowler in this match). He did not planned it earliuer.

4. BD players running between the wickets are very very poor. While you take the singles it also creates a BIG pressure on the fielders.

ANYWAY BD DID A GOOD JOB at the end. Hope these mistakes will not happen again in 2nd and 3rd match. Well done BD

SPITFIRE, no one is claimimg that we were in a winning situation. We are simply welcoming the fact that BD players are gaining back their confidence. So, please be on the same page first before lashing out.
