Totally busted! ...
I have a soft spot for intensely emotional tunes from the Hispanic, Turkish and Maghrebi worlds. Something to do with "having been loved when nothing else mattered." That said, I'd do myself a huge favor by dating women closer to my own age.
Anyway, here's a classic from Eddie Palmieri and La India. Early 90s Berkeley. I was doing some grunt work at a cafe on Durant called the 'Wall Berlin' when this tune came on. Then a Mexican hottie named Maya Angelina Montalvo gyrated up to my table, took my hand and we danced in the middle of the place. The relationship didn't last long, but the memory with all its emotional nuances and residue remains one of the highlights in my life.

I am sick of that song already. Playing all the time on radio. I like Lupe Fiasco. Can you post one?
