Default We Must Hire WasimAkram today. Not Tomorrow. Today.

If he is our bowling consultant our pacer trio(whoever it is) are going to be feared around the world. He has the finest cricketing mind and love for BD. Everyday we don't have him is making us underachieve. Lets groom him for post Whatmore era.

OK once more: TODAY.

What about a specialist batting coach? Someone like Gavaskar or Miandad? Don't we need more help with batting than in anything?

Miandad was an excellent batsmen but a crap coach. Don't chose him. Wasim is a good choice. If not a main coach, atleast a specialist coach. He can assist BD bowlers tremendously.

If we need a specialist coach, I have less faith in Pakistani players. For bowling, I would try Andy Roberts first. For batting, my first choice would be Steve Waugh.

Dude,, Steve Waugh and Andy Roberts are not coaching. Very unlikely that we will get Wasim either as a bowling coach other than a consultant, maybe. He declined first as he is busy with his new role.

Irrespective, I think instead of coaches we need more and more practice. Owen Mattau couldnt solve the batting problems earlier. National league, Dhaka Legue, Ranji trophy etc. Whatmore is a very very high calibre coach but he couldnt make the team unless we apply more ( and the players really understand his depth articulate english)

Steve is not coaching.. Andy coached BD before. I named them as a wish list. Dont take them literally, but use them as standard to what kind of coaches we should be looking for.

I think we need to introduce a very well organized domestic cricket such as Shefield in Australia. Hiring coaches can help us to certain extent but if we really want to establish Bangladesh as a world-class cricket team, we will need to reorganize our domestic cricket on a priority basis.

Naah...we shouldn't involve any Pujabi player/people with our team...they do too much politics....that is the last thing we need for our team....I would love to see any WI or Aus bowling coach (don't think we need it though)...as per batting, only from AUS (I liked Rajputro's sugestion)...But we should get specialist coach only if Whatmore asked for...

Wasim is more a freelance consultant than a formal coach and he does it for love rather than money. He enjoys passing on his tips to any willing youngster and as we all know Irfan Pathan is the one he enjoys helping out the most.

Such informal advise from the greats of the game are often more helpful than the coaching by a formally recruited coach. I read in a newspaper that Bangladeshi batsmen availed of batting tips from Tendulkar at Chittagong.

not every great player becomes a great coach. infact it is very rare to see top players becomming top coaches. most of the good coahces i know where not among the best of players.
