Default Basher, Ashraful and Rajin\'s batting have evolved

I am surprised everyone isn't talking about this.

This is not the Rajin we have known for years. Basher seems much less out of control. Ash has grown up suddenly. I don't think all of these can be attributed to mediocre competition. I think they will continue their new found demeanor against any competition.

Even Mashrafee seems so much better at batting after the injury. I think he must have practiced batting a lot since he couldn't bowl for months. (like Sharif) Suddenly Taposh, Tarek Aziz and Talha are batting well too.

What the heck happened?

I would be tempted to say all Rajin needs to do tomorrow is to survive the first session - every thing else will just happen by itself. But, I will refrain from saying that to the new Rajin. He should keep doing what he has been doing since the 3rd ODI. That is the Rajin that has the most potential. The previous Rajin has served its purposes when all we needed to do was save faces. Then that Rajin fizzled. I thought even if we get that Rajin back to form he may be obsolete for us. And just when we needed a new kind of Rajin for the new dawn of the Bangladesh team, he evolved and came back lke the Pheonix.

Also even though its too early., I see some hints of progress in Nafis and Aftab.

Nafis is playing Test as test match and playing with confidence. He just scored his 2nd 50 in 5 tests. I don't know how Aftab will perform tomorrow, but he is playing with confidence after some lean time.

And surprise! No Golla yet by our top 6 batsman!

If I see the batting line-up, suddenly its not bad at all. Now Javed looks like the weakest link even after his 33 run off 110 balls.

Even in a gloomy day (in DC), things look so bright !!!

Batting has improved a lot. This shows how important confidence is for the bd batsmen. They are confident after the India tour and this shows in todays performance. Hope they can keep it up.

Not only no gollas. No single digit OUTs yet. And every player was involved in atleast one 50 run partnerships.

tomorrow BD should pile on runs and inflict a scar on Zimbabwe to last a lifetime and scare the daylights out of the Zimbabwe bowlers. Revenge time for all the ICC matches we lost and never went to the world cups.

I think the 700 odd runs Sri Lanka scored on this Zimbabwe team left some scars - our innings so far is a good one, but not yet worthy of scars. Let's not get carried away...

What Ghor-jamai means is that it heals a lot of his scars.

Maybe you're right P-C!

I never watched the ICC matches but I did go to Dhaka stadium carrying a panasonic transistor sitting at the east-end gallery (Dhaka Stadium) watched test players scare the crap out of us and listened to Khoda Box Mridha analyzing our batsmen. May be it does help to get even. Now is our chance and we should turn the pressure on. I am sure Bashar, Omar et. al have been to some of the games I have been to, in Dhaka, in the 80s.

just wait till the end of the series to assess the players' form. Javed is doing ok. But I see Shariar Nafees coming up.

Me too.

So far 4 u-19 players came to played the national team: Nafis, Aftab, Nazmul & Enamul. Except for Enamul, they all survived and doing pretty good so far.
Rafiq, Faruque and u-19 coach praised highy about Enamul. We will see what enamul does.

So the success record for u-19 players are pretty good so far. So why not Shariar Nafees in the next available opportunity?

I am talking about the attitude. Not the form. forms come and go. Attitude rarely changes.

This is a different team.

Well,,,up till now i see the batting line up pretty decently settled, why bother tampering with it? Although given the right moment the right guy will be chosen but up till now please dont talk about Shariar Nafees, first give those guys who r already palying enough time to proeve them, players like....golla, naifs, sumon, Ashraful, rajin and aftab r the best choice at the moment as the 6 batsmen playing for bd.

Let's hope for the current players' sake that Shariar Nafees wont be needed to be debted in near future and current players will keep doing a better job! If he keep performing consistently then sooner or later he will defintely get the nod of the selectors! For now my vote of confidence goes to all the current players.

I think if we (Insha-Allah) win the ODI series by 4th match, there is a huge chance that we might see Shariar in the 5th match. That will be suggestion too. These no-pressure matches are always good to introduce one or two bright up-coming youngsters.

I would suggest brikonwall to hold onto his wild imagination. Let us win the first test first. We gotta slow down the pace of our dreams.

Great batting so far from our top orders. I havent seen all of them playing well at the same time. From time to time I will say that Ash's 158* has changed the face of our BD. They now believe that what they can do. Laxman's 281 did it for India and now Ash 158* will do it. Just wait and see....

Always had faith in Rajin. Ashraful- needs to show his consistency. Very impressed about Habibul!

The partnerships are the key.

It doesnt matter if one guy gets 8 runs and then gets out, if while he was there his partner got 60.

Apart from Bashar's rush of blood late in the game (O reckless youth ! O fickle skill ! How quickly you betray those you bless !), Bangladesh batted really well.

Another 150 runs will make this a very, very difficult game for Bangladesh to lose.

The target should be 120 runs and cross the 400 mark.

Today's bhorer kagoz has a nice article on Rajin. It says how he got his confidence by talking to Ganguli.

Remember Ashraful got his inspiration from Tendulkar right before the great 158*.

I think the Indian team might start charging us money pretty soon. Not only are their advice working, they save us a lot of consulting money.
