Mohammad Rafique Back For Deciding ODIs.
Bangladesh v India, 4th ODI, Dhaka
Mohammad Rafique back for deciding ODIs.
Cricinfo Staff.
January 27, 2005.
The experienced left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafique has been restored to the Bangladesh side for the final two one-day internationals against Zimbabwe. He missed the first three games with a hamstring injury he picked up during the second Test, which preceded this one-day series.
Rafique, 34, returns in place of Abdur Razzaq in the only change to the 14-man squad from the first three games.
Zimbabwe currently lead 2-1, so need to win one of the two remaining matches - at Dhaka on Saturday and Monday - to clinch the series.
Bangladesh squad for fourth and fifth ODIs
Nafis Iqbal, Rajin Saleh, Aftab Ahmed, Habibul Bashar (capt), Mohammad Ashraful, Alok Kapali, Khaled Mashud (wk), Khaled Mahmud, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mohammad Rafique, Tapash Baisya, Enamul Haque jnr, Nazmul Hossain, Manjural Islam Rana.

Wow! Team selection would be a problem – in a good sense. Who are we going to drop from the XI that won the last ODI? May be Sujon will be dropped for Rafiq. My feeling is one of Taposh and Nazmul is going to play. They would certainly have dropped Rana if he had not performed with the ball in the last match. Or are they going to drop Ashraful?

This is my thought who will be dropped:
Alok Kapali
Nazmul (replaced by Tapash)
Enamul Jr. (replaced by Rafiq).

My simple thoughts about the team for 4th ODI:
3rd ODI combination is the winning combination. Aftab and Rana proved themselves to be in best XI at least for 4th ODI. We have to make a room for Rafiq and that should be replacing Ashraful. Taposh can replace Nazmul as he is better with the bat. But I know selector might drop Aftab or Rana instead of Asraful, which would be wrong. Sujon understands ODI more than anybody in the team, so his position is secured. He always picks up wks.
Alok is out of any equation right now.
BTW dropping Ash will be good for him because he needs to be reminded before the England tour that he is not indispensable: That might tighten up his loose temperamental screw..
This time even we loss the toss, we have to win. The last win and getting back Rafiq will do the magic....

I think the idea of dropping a genuine batsmen for an all rounder(bowling) is stupid. And what in the world are we going to do with 3 left arm spinners in the team. I mean what is wrong with you people. This is considering that fact that our batting is below par.

selectors will not drop Aftab, Ash or Rana that for sure. If Rafique is not 100% I think BD should play with same team! Since Rana just got MOM Enamul will be sacrificed for Rafique.

You are right.Three left arm spinners in the team?Who will bat for you? I will pick this elevan if Rafique is fully fit.
1-Rajin
2-Nafis
3-Aftab
4-Bashar
5-Ashraful
6-Mashud
7-Rana
8-Mahmud
9-Mashrafee
10-Rafique
11-Tapash
I dont know if its good idea to drop Ash at that moment.I know he has been awful with his bat.

Bashar's interview hints Ashraful is in the team. Ashraful is a batting specialist, but I considered Rafiq in his place given a reality that RAF is batting better than Ashraful recently even if you ignore Rafiq's bowling ability:-). He might give us some run after the fall of top orders.
If not, Rafiq then needs the palce of Rana or Enamul jr. Prbably Rana will survive for his better batting promises than Enamul jr and MOM award.
Hope Ashraful prove himself this time. We never need a win so badly...
