Nafees\' new opening partner
by Shahidul Islam, Chittagong
Bangladesh opening batsman Nafees Iqbal began a new innings yesterday when he was engaged to Taslima Makim Iva, the daughter of businessman Abdul Makim, at a local community centre in the port city.
According Nafees' mother Nusrat Iqbal, no wedding date has been set yet.
The simple ceremony over, both Nafees, who is the eldest son of late cricketer Iqbal Khan and nephew of former national captain Akram Khan, and Taslima posed for photographs. He just turned 20 on January 31, the day on which the Tigers won the five-match one-day series against Zimbabwe.

Taslima is studying for her BA honours degree in English at Chittagong College. She is also a teacher at Green Valley Inter-national School.
Relatives, friends, cricketers, journalists and selected guests, attended the engagement function.

here is my question: nafis played u19 only a few months ago. so the max he can be by certificate is 19+
do u guys know that there is a minimum age for marridge in bangladesh by law?
its 18 for girls and 21 for boys. so?
if someone is interested, find that kazi who completed the marridge, and u might have his lisense cancelled

Have a life guys! Wish him luck because of his engagement rather than getting stuck on age old question of "what is his real age?" Who cares!

We care, because he represents our country. And what's so great in lying with age anyway?

An engagement is not a marriage and there is no minimum age to get engaged. So Nafees has not done anything wrong till now.

i was going to point that out, too - that's its just an engagement. us old foggies worry whenever we see young people get hitched too soon! (i'm not concerned about whether they can legally marry or the kazi's license and what not)

It's been over a year since U-19 world cup took place. Nafees' age is 20 years in the world of cricket, but a couple years older in reality. But why bother with his age... wish the couple all the best, and not whine about matters that we can avoid.
Anyways, to Nafees and his new opening partner!

Good for u if u care about something that u r not even sure of. Frankly i've played Nirman School Circket with him in 97/98 when he used to play for Maple Leaf/Dhanmondi International School. We all knew he was really young back then, he surely wasnt more that 14, so he shouldnt be more than 21/22 now. Not sure about whether he hid his age or not but even if he did so, its not more than a year or so. A lot of people do that in bd, so its no big deal, get over with it guys!
