Default New Stars on Horizon

M.S.Dhoni and Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhoni, the aggressive wicetkeeper-batsman who slammed the very firstball that he faced from Mashrafe for a six (India-BD third ODI) and Shikhar Dhawan who was a shining star in the Under-19 world cup, took the India B attack comprising of Ashish Nehra, Amit Bhandari and Joginder Singh, to cleaners.

Chasing 276 to win, the two put on 180+ unbroken partnership for the first wicket in about 26 overs!!!

Ganguly must be might pleased at his two new prospects to be unleashed in teh coming season.

By last update, Dhawan had completed his century and India seniors were 218/0 in 34 overs, chasing 276 to win.

Dhoni is a wicketkeeper too. Seems very promising.

i was about to post something on these guys. looks like they are in pretty good shape, and murdered the bowling today (so far, at least). hope they can fill in at least one of the opening positions in the indian team in the future, thus putting india's neverlasting opener problem to an end.

let me modify manna dey here..."koto jon elo gelo koto joni ashbe...opening positionta shudhu theke jaay..."

yeah...it's high time that india take measures to solve their opening problem.

"Did you mean that was the first ball he faced in ODI?"

No. It was the first ball he faced in that match.

Dhoni had very interesting start to his international career - A first ball run-out duck.

Asif,

I didn't know Manna Dey sang in Bangla too. He was a popular Hindi Singer (My favourites include "Zindagi, Kaisi Hai Paheli Hai " From the movie "Anand".

Interestingly, in Anand, the hero plays the role of a Bengali guy. Rajesh Khanna with his famous "Babu-Moshai".

Pls. translate the song above. Thanks.

Manna Dey is a Bengali.

As for Dhoni, he has massacred quite a few bowling attacks in Indian domestic cricket and also while playing for India A against Pakistan A.

As for Shikhar Dhawan, he was the man of the tournament in the U-19 World cup that was held in BD last year. He then forced his way into the star studded Delhi Ranji trophy team and he has averaged 41 in his debut first class season. He is certainly an opening batting prospect for the future.
