Default Singapore best Asian city Dhaka worst

though, we dont need actually any sort of international survey to guess,it really hurts to find dhaka or bangladesh titled worst of them all the time.

aha-re sonar bangla kobe dekhbo er ulta ta,like Dhaka best asian city Singapore or Tokyo worst ..

report by daily star here:

AFP, Singapore

Singapore has edged out Tokyo and Hong Kong as the best city in Asia for expatriates to live, according to a survey by a human resource group released yesterday, while Dhaka is the worst.
Singapore's wide use of English was one key factor for the tropical city-state's top billing, ECA International, a global membership organisation for human resources professionals, said after releasing its survey.

ECA's Hong Kong general manager, Lee Quane, said high quality transport, communications and health facilities, low health risks and low crime rates were other factors that made Singapore most attractive to foreigners.

"Although it boasts an excellent infrastructure, the added benefits of its cosmopolitan outlook and the extent to which English is spoken make it a very easy location for an expatriate to assimilate into," Quane said in a statement.

Singapore also shaded Tokyo and Hong Kong in the crucial area of air pollution, Quane said, while the Japanese capital further lost out because of its susceptibility to earthquakes.

In order from number four to 10, the other most livable Asian cities for expatriates were: Macau, Kuala Lumpur, Bandar Seri Begawan, Taipei, Bangkok, Seoul and Beijing.

At the other end of the scale, the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka won the gong for the least livable city, just ahead of Karachi.

"Dhaka is plagued by instability and poor infrastructure and the strains upon foreigners are increasing," the findings of the survey said.

The survey ranks 38 cities according to categories that include climate, prevalence and impact of natural disasters, health facilities and risks, transportation, accommodation standards, education, recreation, and crime.

Hmm. I disagree with this survey. I lived in BD 2 years as an expat and must admit that it was pretty good.
Good go on about the experience but don't think anyone is interested lol.
I would rather live in Dhaka than say for example Kolkata.

Oh yeah! Does anyone know which cities were in the list?
Ok let me rephrase. I would rather live in Dhaka than Karachi. I've been in Karachi and wasn't impressed.

What a coincidence...I belong to both Singapore and Dhaka . With my living experience in both places I can sincerely say that the survey is 100% accurate. Dhaka is a huge rotten rubbish bin when comparing to the beautiful, clean and green Singapore! But I must say that Singaporeans are not the friendliest of people. They can be quite rude and ignorant but again when you compare them to vast majority of Bangladeshis....they are way better human beings. It's a shame that we Bangalis are so backward compared to other Asian countries.

btw...i've had the opportunity to visit Singapore a couple of times, and although I havent been to Tokyo, my experience of Hong Kong (although not a bad one at all) says that the poll was accurate enough. That's what most people had predicted a couple of years ago, and that's what happened.

The survey is taken with the expats point of view. Even so some cities are underated. I would say Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur are highly underated. They are far more livable than say Seoul and Taipei.

Also having lived in Singapore- i must say the survey is accurate, but really for gods sake, I had to leave that city every 2 weeks just to get out of the stiffling atmosphere of "top everything"-i.e perfection.

Loved Singapore. Good place, nice people.

Not to crazy about Dhaka, I am from Chittagong and whenevr i went to Dhaka, I felt like puking - sorry. I now Dhanmondi used to be good but haven't been to BD in a while so have no idea whatsoever. What I hear from people is that it's gotten worse. However, what's worse for someone who has been better doesn't necessarily mean it's that bad.

dhanmondi? yuk.

baridhara's the best place - maybe even uttara. they wont stay that way for long though

having grown up in dhaka, i always felt chittagong (nanar bari) is an awfully fantastic place to go on a vacation, and equally boring for living on a permanent basis.

ok...gtg make some "korobaiyun" salad now...

To me Gulshan is the best place in Dhaka. Baridhara is too congested with all the apartments..
