Default Can any Bangladeshi ever have an inning like Afridi?

Well can even Lara have an inning like Afridi?

I think Mashrafee is capable. You have to be a little crazy to have that kind of an inning.

Pakistan need to score at 5.00 runs per over
Salman Butt and Shahid Afridi to start the innings
Balaji to start the bowling attack
0.1 Balaji to Salman Butt, two runs, off the mark straightaway, played
into the gap between point and gully, third man moves across in
the deep and keeps it down to two
0.2 Balaji to Salman Butt, no run, defended outside the off stump
0.3 Balaji to Salman Butt, no run, good length delivery on the middle
and off, pushed down to mid-off
0.4 Balaji to Salman Butt, no run, pitched up and driven hard, straight
to the fielder at cover, good shot for no runs
0.5 Balaji to Salman Butt, no run, on the pads, turned away to the
square leg region
0.6 Balaji to Salman Butt, FOUR, Shot! pitched up outside the off
stump, driven away nicely into the gap between point and cover,
the trademark flick-drive that he plays so well, Pakistan off to a
good start here

End of over 1 (6 runs) Pakistan 6/0 (RR: 6.00 RRR: 244/49 = 4.98)
L Balaji 1-0-6-0 - Mill Pavilion End
Shahid Afridi 0* (0b) Salman Butt 6* (6b 1x4)

Zaheer Khan to share the new ball with Balaji
1.1 Khan to Shahid Afridi, no run
1.2 Khan to Shahid Afridi, one run, played wide of the fielder at mid-
off, Afridi off the mark with an easy single
1.3 Khan to Salman Butt, wide: no run, fuller length delivery angling
down the leg side
1.3 Khan to Salman Butt, no run, pitched up outside the off stump,
almost an yorker, driven back to the bowler at one bounce, Khan
collects the ball and threatens to throw it back, gets the crowd
going!
1.4 Khan to Salman Butt, one run, steered down to third man, easy
single
1.5 Khan to Shahid Afridi, no run, angling across, driven in the air to
the mid-off region, once bounce to the fielder moving across to
his left
1.6 Khan to Shahid Afridi, no run, beaten, nicely angling across the
right-hander, Afridi was looking to push it away off the front-
foot, decent start by Zaheer Khan

End of over 2 (3 runs) Pakistan 9/0 (RR: 4.50 RRR: 241/48 = 5.02)
Z Khan 1-0-3-0 (1w) - Hostel End
Salman Butt 7* (8b 1x4) Shahid Afridi 1* (4b)

2.1 Balaji to Salman Butt, one run, drifting down the leg side, played
down to fine leg, easy single
2.2 Balaji to Shahid Afridi, SIX, here we go! good length delivery
drifting on to the pads, Afridi moves forward and flicks it away
well over the square leg fence, clean shot
2.3 Balaji to Shahid Afridi, legbye: two runs, down the leg side, ball
clips the pad and runs down to the fine leg region
2.4 Balaji to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, four more! again Balaji drifting
onto the pads, wrong line, turned away beautifully behind square
on the leg side, comfortably beats Kumble moving across from fine
leg
2.5 Balaji to Shahid Afridi, SIX, Afridi on fire here! pitched up on
the stumps, lofted well over the long-on fence, taken cleanly by
the ball-boy behind the ropes, Afridi is running away with this
game
2.6 Balaji to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, smashed to the cover fence for a
change, ball was short and wide outside the off stump, another bad
delivery put away in style, perfect start for Pakistan, end of an
expensive over!

End of over 3 (23 runs) Pakistan 32/0 (RR: 10.67 RRR: 218/47 = 4.64)

smashed over the deep square leg fence, easy picking, Kumble under
pressure straight away
4.2 Kumble to Shahid Afridi, SIX, six more! hit across the line, ball
sails over the midwicket fence, nice looking shot, Kumble being
taken apart here
change of Angle, Kumble decides to come round the stump to cramp
Afridi
4.3 Kumble to Shahid Afridi, no run
4.4 Kumble to Shahid Afridi, wide: no run
4.4 Kumble to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, lofted down to the long-off
boundary, was a mis-hit but got enough bat on it to take the ball
to the fence, Afridi on the rampage! this will be over soon at
this rate!

over the wide long-on fence, 50 comes up in no time! Afridi at his

Shahid Afridi 43* (15b 3x4 5x6) Salman Butt 10* (21b 1x4)

India 50 runs in 12.4 overs - Pakistan 50 in 4.5 overs. Pakistan
miles ahead at this stage

Lara had 45 bowls 100 i guess ..... I thaught that was with bangladesh .........
And also Monemuddin made 36 bowls 100 in the school cricket ........ We don't need anyone like Afridi we need someone like Dravid to guide the innings after lotta pressure . In my view Dravid played under pressure which is 100 times better innings than Afridi ........ Afridi never played good under pressure .......

Can any Bangladeshi ever have an inning like Afridi?

Most likely not in near future. Beyond that who knows...

... and whenever there will be a slight hope anything close to that... the BC fans will drive them out of the team due to lack of "good batting style or technique".

Whatever Afridi achieved is due to his good hand-eye cordination and ability ot improvise... here in BC, nobody gives a [] about that. They like Aloke's style and Gullu's temperment more than anything.

So forget about that.

I dont think so.......Hez one of a kind!....And not only us...I feel no other international cricketer of any country can ever come up with a show of such consistent hitting.....However there was an occasion when even Afridi was overshadowed.....Here is the link to that.....U guys wud have had to see that innings to believe it!!!

When Ijaz turned it on !!!

....Sachin Tendulkar, the only survivor from the October 1997 team, could probably remember what it had been like that evening at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore when Ijaz Ahmed who would have been a natural as a woodcutter or axe-murderer savaged India's water-pistol attack to the tune of 139 runs from just 84 balls as a fighting total of 216 was surpassed with a whopping 142 balls to spare. The other destroyer on that occasion was a familiar face, a free-stroking young man seemingly unencumbered by self-doubt or technique. Shahid Afridi smacked 47 from 23 balls that evening before leaving the stage to Ijaz, who pulverised whatever came his way. ....

We first have to reach a stage where our bowlers can book the Indians for a small target.
About big hitting, it is a talent and not a skill thats developed. it is a gift from nature.
You cannot predict who's going to be what. But Afridi shows that he is a team player more now than he was about 5 years back.

Heh, good one Fazal. Actually I won't mind an Afridi in our team. Our best players average 20s at best. What harm would a 15 ball 21 do? It's better than a 50 ball 20 any day.

Heeyyy!

Have all of u forgotten about Aftab? I know it was against Zimbabwe but at least he has done it once and he can surely do it again. The good thing about Aftab is that, unlike Afridi he doesn't throw out his wicket. I guess he is absolutely capable of playing an Afridi type innings.

The most obvious answer has to be Ashraful. His 150-something not out against India, while not as rapid as Afridi's innings last night, still had the flavor of a batsman with full and total dominance over the bowling. This is not to say that Ashraful ought to go out and try to play every innings in that fashion, but when he does get going, he is the one Bangladeshi batsman who has the aura of complete control.

certainly a bangladeshi can better afridi. and i am not joking. to be a hitter like afridi, one needs power as well as very good eye and reflex.

we have lot of young players coming up and who knows very soon we may see a bangladeshi breaking the 37 ball hundred record.

Thats Certainly what a good hitter of the ball has, power & reflex. I dont know how sharp the BD players are with their reflex but they definitely lack power.

Ironically the 'strongest' hitter of our team is the most malnourished one >>>>> Ashraful

i have to disagree with u on the strongest hitter thing. i think its rafique who is the strongest hitter. sure he has less batting ability than ashraful and much less shots in his book, but some of his shots when he can plays it right goes toward the boundary like a bullet. but its hard to have real good reflex at his age.

is it a joke about saddam or a real good talented school cricketer?

it reminds of a game i went many years ago from my school in nirman school competion. it was bksp vs saintjoseph in dhanmondi ground. the bksp openers were hitting nearly every ball for 4s or 6s. ofcouse the st.joseph bowling was poor but it still takes something to hit like that. and as far as i remember one of the opener was durjoy.
