Some significant changes in the Bangladesh test squad is expected. Bringing in Nafees Iqbal seems to be one such change for his great knock of 118 runs against England on Day One of the three day practice match for Bangladesh 'A'.
In a match where Nafees Iqbal was the lone specialist batsman to make a very big score after Bangladesh 'A' captain Rajin Saleh's patient 28.
Although neither Nafees Iqbal nor Aftab Ahmed are in the preliminary 20-member list of the Bangladesh National team to play against England, but it was announced by the BCB that if some players playing in the President's XI or for Bangladesh 'A' performs against England in the practice matches, then they could get into the Bangladesh national team.
After a tremendous batting performance by the young opener of the Bangladesh under-nineteen team, there is virtually no doubt that he will be participating in Bangladesh national team's either test or one day series or both against England.
It was a worry for Bangladesh after the first practice match that we are not finding the right player to replace Mohammad Ashraful, and bringing back Ashraful on short notice was going through some of our minds.
But it was not to be. In fact, it is Nafees Iqbal - the close friend and opening partner of Mohammad Ashraful that is probably replacing him. It is worth mentioning here that the great Akram Khan is Nafees Iqbal's uncle.
His performance has somewhat downgraded Aftab Ahmed's batting during the first practice match for the Bangladesh Cricket Board President's XI, but he will also be under consideration to replace Sanwar Hossain in the Bangladesh national team's test squad.
And some good performance with the bat has also opened up Mosaddek Hossain's chances of playing his debut test match in the coming test series against England, provided that he also take a few wickets with his leg spin.
