Head to head: Zimbabwe and others

F Waliullah
We know that Bangladesh have met Zimbabwe in four test matches and in ten One Day Internationals. We also know that Bangladesh have played quite a number of oppositions after we last toured Zimbabwe. But, what about the number of games that Zimbabwe has played over the years?

We will now try to go through with Zimbabwe's series against other teams after the year 2001 in this piece.

After Zimbabwe's tour of Bangladesh in 2001, Zimbabwe have played in six tournaments involving three or more teams.

England, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies have visited Zimbabwe in this time and Zimbabwe went on tour to India, Sri Lanka, England, and Australia.

In the year 2002, Zimbabwe have played in 15 One Day International matches and in the year 2003, Zimbabwe have played in 23 One Day Internationals including the World Cup.

The most recent wins by Zimbabwe were against West Indies at home, when they were beaten in the series by 3-2, and has beaten England in England in their opening match during the NatWest series.

Heath Streak, the present Zimbabwean captain lead the side in 17 Tests and won 3 tests, among them are the 2 test matches against Bangladesh in Zimbabwe. It is interesting to note that Heath Streak was injured when Zimbabwe came on to play a series in Bangladesh in 2001. So, Brian Murphy and Stuart Carlisle had led the Zimbabwean team at the time during the absence of Heath Streak.

Heath Streak captained the Zimbabwe side in 30 One Day Internationals and has won in 9 occassions as the captain, 3 among those 9 matches include Bangladesh's loss to Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe in the 3-match One-Day series.
