Bangladesh started their second innings with a mammoth 250 runs to recover from before they could post any lead for the hosts to come in for the second time. That did not happen, as they got quickly bowled out for 113, surrendering to the hosts with an innings and 137 runs defeat. Tamim Iqbal was absent in the second innings, recovering from a broken thumb.

Shakib remained not out for 41 runs. Bashar reached his 3000 Test runs with 25 runs in the second innings. Martin, Mills, Oram, and O'Brien, all claimed 2 wickets each.

With this Test, Bangladesh have ended their month-long New Zealand tour. They are scheduled to host South Africa in February 2008.
