Bangladesh have ended their New Zealand tour with a woeful performance. They have lost their last Test by an Innings and 137 runs with less than 3 complete days of play.
After Bangladesh got cheaply bowled out for 143 in their first innings, New Zealand had put up a total of 393 by the second day of the Test. Fleming and Vettori made 87 and 94 respectively. Shahadat Hossain claimed 3 wickets for 83 runs. The other notable performers with the ball were Mashrafe (100/2), Aftab (31/2), and Shakib (44/2).
Mashrafe and Shakib lifted Bangladesh past 100 run mark
Bangladesh started their second innings with a mammoth 250 runs to recover from before they could post any lead for the hosts to come in for the second time. That did not happen, as they got quickly bowled out for 113, surrendering to the hosts with an innings and 137 runs defeat. Tamim Iqbal was absent in the second innings, recovering from a broken thumb.
Shakib remained not out for 41 runs. Bashar reached his 3000 Test runs with 25 runs in the second innings. Martin, Mills, Oram, and O'Brien, all claimed 2 wickets each.
With this Test, Bangladesh have ended their month-long New Zealand tour. They are scheduled to host South Africa in February 2008.
