A fine century from opener Zunaed Siddique and useful contribution from Aftab Ahmed scripted a strong BCB XI reply after touring South Africa amassed 397 runs in the first innings at Fatullah Osmani Stadium in Narayanganj today.
Zunaed scored a dazzling 103 and struck 15 boundaries in his 168 ball knock. He shared useful partnerships with Shariar Nafees, Nazimuddin and Aftab Ahmed before being finally dismissed by Makhaya Ntini.
Aftab Ahmed made a breezy 45 off 63 deliveries with the help of 9 boundaries. He shared a 85 run 5th wicket partnership with Zunaed. BCB XI's progress was halted by the tourists when both Zunaed and Aftab fell in a space of 8 deliveries, but Raqibul Hasan and skipper Shakib Al Hasan prevented any further damage before the end of the days play.
BCB XI ended the day on 263 for 5, still trailing the South Africans by 134 runs.
Earlier, resuming the day of 329 for 8, Boucher and Steyn continued to frustrate the BCB attack as they shared 91 runs in the 9th wicket. Enamul Jr. finally picked Steyn, but Boucher further punished the host bowlers and went on making the second century for the tourists. He remained unbeaten on 107 when Sajidul caught last man Ntini off his own bowling.
