The one-day practice match between touring South Africa and BCB XI ended in a dramatic tie as the tourists could only manage 4 runs from the last over of the match needing 5 runs to win the match at Chittagong Divisional Stadium on Friday.
Replying to the hostsâ€™ 243-7, South Africa lost two wickets in the final over of the match. First Rubel Hossain bowled Johan Botha in the penultimate delivery and then Albie Morkel was run out in the final ball of the match.
The BCB XI youngsters were jubilant after pulling off the tie against the tourists when all-rounder Farhad Reza whipped off the bails at the non-strikerâ€™s end to run out Morne Morkel, who was attempting to take a second run. South Africa needed two runs off the final ball to win the game.
The enthralling tie will certainly give Bangladesh youngsters a psychological edge over their African counterparts in the ODI series, which starts in Chittagong on March 9. The second and third matches will be played in Dhaka on March 12 and 14.
