Bangladesh managed to shoot themselves on the foot again after they succumbed to a 2 wicket loss against a spirited Zimbabwe side in the first match of the three-match GrameenPhone ODI series at Sher E Bangla Stadium in Mirpur today. After winning the toss Bangladesh skipper opted to bat on a moist surface and got bundled out for 124 with Ashraful contributing only 4 runs in his new batting position. This is the lowest Bangladesh total against Zimbabwe in Bangladesh.
Zimbabwe fought hard despite regular fall of wickets and deservingly managed to win by 2 wickets in the last over of the game. With this win Zimbabwe took 1-0 lead in the three match series. The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at the same venue for the 2nd ODI.
