An unbeaten 5th wicket record 139 run partnership between Mehrab Hossain Jr. and Mushfiqur Rahim helped Bangladesh to resurrect their innings after a disasterous start on the first day of the first Test at Divisional Stadium in Chittagong today. Bangladesh finished the day on 184/4 after the hosts won the toss and opted to bat first on a placid surface. Bangladesh started their innings overcautiously after losing Zuaned Siddique in the 7th ball of the innings. Bangladesh batsmen were more concerned on keeping the wicket intact than scoring runs. This go-slow approach didn't help Bangladesh as the tourists quickly moved on top and reduced Bangladesh to 44/4 after 43 overs.
