Kitply Cup Tri-Nation ODI Series, 2008

Bangladesh eye improvement in the series opener

7 June 2008

Bangladesh, fresh from a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Pakistan, take on the same opponent in the opening match of the tr-nation Kitply cup ODI series at Sher E Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday. The day-night affair will start at 3:00 PM local time.

Bangladesh have left out Mehrab Hossain Jr. and Nazim Uddin from the 14 man squad and included uncapped Dollar Mahmud in the 12 man squad for tomorrows match.

Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful is looking for some improvement in the team performance, but has no specific target ahead of the crucial encounter.

"You cannot expect any changes overnight. Our main target is to show improvement both individually and as a team. We are in a learning process, so you have to give some time to get the result," said Ashraful.

On the other hand Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik is keen to extend the winning streak of his team. Pakistan have not lost a match in the last seven months and secured consecutive 5-0 series win against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

"Our target is to maintain the consistency that saw us win 11 games in a row," said Malik.

"We want to continue that streak. Everyone is fit and we are looking forward to a good series."
