The visiting Zimbabwe team started their tour on a sour note when they suffered a 4 wicket defeat at the hands of the BCB XI on their first tour match. Batting first, Zimbabwe was bloweld out for only 206 runs in 42 overs. Only Wicketkeeper Tatenda Taibu put up any resistance scoring a solid 62 but did not recieve any support from the lower orders. Tareq Aziz and Talha Jubair were the pick of the bowelers from BCB XI, taking three wickets each.
BCB struggled initially during the chase and at stage were 122 for 6 with Justice Chibhabha grabbing a three for. Fisal Hussain and wicketkeeper Shahagir Hossain then stepped up to the plate and stopped the rot. Faisal scored and unbeaten 81, ably supported by Shahagir; the duo added 85 for the seventh wicket to notch up a confortable win with more than five overs to spare.
The two teams meet again for the second and final tour match on October 25 at Fatullah. The first ODI of the five match series will be played on October 27 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
