Bangladesh suffered a humiliating defeat inside 3 days as they were bundled out for 1234 inside one session on the 3rd day of the 2nd Test at Old Trafford today. Bangladesh were 39 for 6 at one point and threatened to take the wanted crown of the lowest Test score, but somehow managed to reach three figures mark after a fighting 38 by Mahmudullah. It was a disastrous end of a rather encouraging tour after promising performances at Lord's and the start of Old Trafford Test when Bangladesh were 126 without loss in response to England's 419 in the first innings.
Bangladesh lost 20 wickets in two consecutive sessions in an unfortunate display of ineptness after showing signs of progress in Test cricket over the last 2 years. Tamim Iqbal with bat and Shakib Al Hasan with ball were the only shining spot in a dull Bangladesh display which lacked the intent to stay longer at the crease and battle hard. Bangladesh will now travel to Sri Lanka to participate in the Asia Cup and will return in July 2010 to resume the ODI part of their England tour.
