Bangladesh played a directionless brand of cricket in their 60 run loss in the opening match of the three-match Zoom Ultra ODI series against Australia in Dhaka today. Chasing victory target of 271 in 50 overs, Bangladesh settled for 210 runs for 5 wickets. The lack of hunger for the win was an eyesore in Bangladesh's batting throughout the match and they seemed destined for an ignominious "honorable defeat".
Bangladesh used to play this brand of cricket in 2002-2003 when they were in the middle of record losing streak. To surprise of many, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan defended his teams batting approach and conceded that victory was improbable after Australia piled up 270 runs in 50 overs. Bangladesh has recently lost their way in ODI cricket after lacklustre performance in the World Cup 2011. Now with this radarless batting approach Bangladesh is losing further grounds in international cricket.
