Bangladesh ended the 5-match UCB ODI series with a convincing 93 run victory over host Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club in Bullawayo today. Batting first on a batting friendly surface, Bangladesh were reduced to 127-5 inside 30 overs, but a commanding 107 run partnership between skipper Shakib Al Hasan and all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad ensured a competitive 253 for 6 in 50 overs.
Zimbabwe started the chase positively through in-form Vusi Sibanda and Hamilton Masakadza, but were undone by the spin of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad as they lost regular wickets after the departure of Sibanda. Forster Muzitwa and Malcolm Waller tried to rebuild the innings but a typical late order collapse handed a big win to Bangladesh. Mahmudullah bagged 3 wickets for 13 runs while Shakib secured 2 wickets for 26 runs. Despite the loss, Zimbabwe have won the ODI series 3-2, courtesy of winning the first three ODIs of the series.
