Asia Cup 2012
Tournament History
Bangladesh won the rights to host the 2012 Asia Cup for the third time since the tournament's inception after an executive committee meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dhaka in 2010.
Originally conceptualized in 1983 with the aim of promoting goodwill amongst the cricket-playing nations of Asia, the Asia Cup's 11th edition will include four participants in all: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. India are the current holders of the Cup, having won it for a record fifth time by defeating Sri Lanka in the Final at Dambulla in June 2010.
All matches of this round-robin competition will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur from March 11 to March 22.
