Bangladesh lost their fourth and final Asia Cup match to the Sri Lankans to end up holding the wooden spoon. This was a far cry from the lastg Asian Cup where Bangladesh were narrowly pipped at the final.
Put into bat, Bangladesh managed to score only a sedate 204 due to very tight bowling by the Lankan spinners. With Imrul Kayes out injured, the opening du of Shamsur Rahman and Anamul Haq put on 74 for the first wicket but subsequent batsmen were not able to push the score along.
The Lankans sputtered a bit in the chase and were 8 for 3 and then 75-5 at stages but the runs on the board were just not enough as the Lankans slowly bur surely overhauled the target in the penultimate over.
Sri Lanka 208/7 (49.0 ov) beat Bangladesh 204/9 (50.0 ov)
