Bangladesh do a disservice to ODI cricket

Bangladesh ended their Asia Cup 2010 amid controversy as they conceded a 139 defeat against Pakistan in their final group game in Dambulla on Monday. It was not the margin of defeat which was the talking point, it was the approach Bangladesh took while chasing the improbable 386 run victory target. Bangladesh threw in the towel right from the word go and played for honourable defeat which was a torture to watch for most of the passionate cricket fans following the game. Bangladesh finally managed 246 runs for 5 wickets with their sluggish and un-ambitious display. Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons defended his defeatist tactics but most of the cricket fans have other ideas about how to approach competitive international sports.
